I got a letter!!!! WooHoo!!! I can't stop smiling!!! He's doing great. He also answered the whole questionnaire and mailed it back. He also sent his little brother a letter addressed to him. I can't wait for him to get out of school. He's going to be so excited to open his letter.
Good morning, everyone! Hope today is a GOOD one, filled with letters and maybe a call????
Thank you, sjtina!
My daughter dated a boy for 1 month before she left for bootcamp, she married him in A-school and 4 days later he left for bootcamp. Soooooo many of them get married soon after bootcamp. It is discouraged but still happens a lot. It was crazy fast I can tell you that for sure. They get very lonely at bootcamp and have lots of time to think about that special someone.
I understand about the girlfriend thing.. My son had not been with this girl very long before he left. I am having a hard time "sharing" him. I didn't mind too much that he wrote her 13 and I got 3, but I am going to be so mad if he gets a chance to make a phone call and he calls her. She is a sweety pie and I really like her but I gave birth to the little darlin and I think I should have first dibs.lol Someone mentioned the other day that it would be easier to understand if she were his wife, but not a girl that he had only gone out with for maybe a month before he left. My son-in-law is in the army and he rarely called his mother. I don't want it to be that way with my son. Yes, I am a little selffish. But again, I gave birth to him. Doesn't that count for something?
lol, that is definitely a benefit to IT (intense training) try not to worry, it is still very early and they will get lots of time to practice and they will get better and better with the PT. Just keep encouraging them in your letters. And these first letters are often down and sad. You will notice a change in them as each week goes by. they will grow and improve so much and you will be amazed :-D
I was fortunate enough this evening to get to meet one of our N4M members this evening in person :-) She doesn't live too far from me and she was leaving this evening to head to her son's PIR. She is one very happy mom because her son is one of the honor recruits. She is delivering ribbons in person for me to the Ramada Inn and I appreciate her very much.
I also made plans today to go see my Sailor :-) Whooo hooooo, now I really am ready for Spring break at the beach. One very good perk about visiting your Sailors, most of them live at a beach somewhere lol.
lala (the other one) lol and the others who were asking about ribbons, I do make ribbons and scarves for anyone who would like them to wear to PIR and or meet and greet. They are a great way to show your pride for your Sailor and they make an awesome keepsake. The ribbons and scarves both make it easy to recognize other people from the your division. The 800 Div's usually get black ribbons with gold letters and the other division normally get navy blue ribbons with a choice of silver or gold letters. The scarves that some of the Winter PIR groups get are usually a different color for each division. You can choose a color for your division and you can buy one wherever you like or you can order them from me. The ones I make normally have an anchor machine appliqued on them and you can also get them with the division number. The scarves are fleece and come in pretty much any color you can think of as well as some prints. If anyone would like more info just send me a friend request on this site or you can also send me an email to: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com You can see pics of the ribbons, scarves and other items on my page here, my profile pic also has the ribbons on it, and you can see lots more on my facebook page Unique memory Makers. Here is a pic of the purple scarf with white anchor and Div #.
Demetris: From our experience on this site, we have found that if the SRs don't pass the final PFA before their division goes to BattleStations, they go into FIT Division---they don't have to be hurt. They call home then to say they won't graduate, don't come---scripted call. We have to tell the ladies on here that they still have chances---we try to catch them before they cancel their travel plans. I have been in touch with many who finally passed the PFA (they must take the whole thing again and pass it all) right before PIR, and then they go through BattleStations the night before PIR. They were then in the balcony for PIR, too tired to march with their division...although a few were determined to march during PIR and managed to do that. :-)
