OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

YAY gonavy, I would insert a emotion thing here if I knew how lol

It always breaks my heart. I can't imagine being there with no one to write to or especially no one to receive letters from. But some young people they have been on their own for a long time and may have never had a good family life. This is their chance to make something of themselves and have a better life. It is a sad but very true reality in the world we live in. That is why I am always happy to write to anyone not receiving any mail. :-)

Lala, thank you for your answer.  I now have two other's who will write to SRs who are not receiving mail.  It does break your heart.

I tried both of the links and they are not working I must have done something wrong. Sorry I have no idea what I did lol. You should also be able to find me by typing Unique Memory Makers in the search Bar on facebook, I hope :-)

DeeDee here is the link for my facebook page, sorry you had trouble finding it. If you click on the photo's on the left of the page then click on all photos it should show you all the different albums. If you click on the album then stroll through the pictures each one has a description with the prices of the ribbons, scarves and all the other items. Let me know if you can't get the link to work. One will take you to my facebook and the other will take you to my business page. You can also reach me here on NavyForMoms or through email at: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com

Wow, I would really like to be in on this too.  I will ask my son also.  This just breaks my heart.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on January 30, 2012 at 3:24pm

Sadly that is true. You can write an extra letter and put it in with your next letter to your recruit and have him give it to someone who isn't get any mail. They really like it when they actually hear their name called for mail so you can ask your recruit for their name. the rest of the address would be the same since they don't really know anyone outside of their own division. I did this when my Sailor was there and still stay in touch with a couple of the Sailors I wrote to :-)

Got a question for the veteran moms.  I've read somewhere that some recruits don't receive mail.  Assuming their family or friends don't send any.  Is this true?  How could we help?  I have a friend who has no kid in the military who would be interested in sending mail to someone who isn't receiving any.  Of course, we would do the same.  I suppose my SR would know and it will be one of the things I will ask of him in my first letter to him.

I started a discussion for Ship 9 Division 091 if anyone would like to join.
