Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on January 29, 2012 at 7:26am: FTLW is correct, Just call the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes and tell them you have a recruit at boot camp. they will put the reservation down with your recruits name and ask that they stop by the front desk at some point after graduation. They don't even strictly enforce that. You can get a room with a kitchen for the same price as a regular room if they have them available when you book your room. They don't charge your card until you check in at which time you can pay cash if you prefer. They have no cancellation fee and you can cancel up to the day you are supposed to check in. If you ask at the front desk they will also give you a temporary pass to be able to shop at the Nex down the street without military ID. We were on a very limited budget and we enjoyed our stay there very much. They have very comfortable beds :-) You would think I was getting a kick back or something lol.

Comment by sjtina on January 29, 2012 at 12:45am: Chips, I believe they all go to Pensacola for training. My youngest is undes. airman and went there for about a month, then got 10 days leave to come home before reporting to his base.

I stayed there but I have dependant ID through ny hubby (AF)...so I used him as my sponsor.

I believe you just have to tell them you are coming out for PIR and give your SR's name and rate...then I have read that you have to bring them by at some point to verify...but have never gotten that confirmed.

Would somebody do that for me? I would really appreciate it!
