Demetris - Thanks for the Navy Lodge info! I stayed there and loved it! I'll post my experience later!
Uniforms on liberty update. (This is one...I'll see if I can get more!)

MSmom... THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
...and CONGRATULATUONS personally from me to you and your son!
Also, MSmom has been staying on to help out us veterans...though I still don't think I am a real vet until I have been on here a year...I wanna still be a Jr. Vet.
Then I have a confirmation! I will be doing my homework later today to have my posts reflect what is in the new Family Guide and will let you all know when it is done.
I am pretty sure that families are allowed in the Navy Lodge. I recall assisting my recruits with reservations. If families want to stay there it is best they contact them soon. Navy lodges ALWAYS book up very fast because of the proximity to the base and the price. The Great Lakes area is not the "best" (or safest) area to find a great hotel unless you go near the Gurnee Mall area (which is where ALL recruits love to go). Trust me we were stationed there for 3 years...
I will be going over the old FG and the new one for more changes. Also, as far as civies for the Hotel...I am seeing if someone can ask on RTC FB for an answer. Also, like we have stated your recruits get an in-depth briefing on the do's and dont's and will know what is allowed.
Ugh...I have a lot of "homework" LOL
OMG I didn't realize that active duty and retirees are not counted on the recruits access list. RDCs don't usually get involved with the graduation access list briefing so I never paid attention to any of that. Thanks so much for the info FTLW!!
(I haven't received a letter yet)
Number five says the "Main Gate" I am assuming that would be the Illinois Gate? Illinois is the street that the NEX, MWR, Photo Lab NFCU, and then the Chapel Parking lot are on.
We now enter for PIR on OHIO at Gate 8...which is across from the NEX...that was why it was confusing to me as far as where they are suposed to wait for you and that I did not have to do that in May. I parked in the Parking Garage and walked over to the NEX to pick my Sailor up there each day. I am sure we will find out as we know things can change at any time!
We always tell the moms that they may not go past the Chapel...this was in the old Family Guide:
For security and privacy reasons, guests of recruits are
not permitted past the Chapel for any reason.
It now states:
For security and privacy reasons, guests are not permitted past the Chapel parking lot or the parking garage structure for any reason.
There is a Parking Garage that is adjacent to the Visitors Center (USS Yorktown) which then flows into Midway Hall.
I have a post for the Maps of RTC...I will put it up later.
Now, I will be watching the thread on the Notes for your PIR for ANY changes...this is a large TG and there may be some, K?
Yes that is correct...all their gear is stenciled, even their "ricky notebooks".
