~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

splachte:  Very doubtful, if not impossible, for him to attend his friend's PIR.  Just isn't allowed.  You can try and "pull strings" like he probably wants you to do, but don't think it will work.  Remember, a new rule change from about a year ago now makes all active duty and retired military a part of someone's guest list if they want to attend.  Prior to that, active duty/retired military were welcome at all PIRs on their own.  So....lots of restrictions on how can be at PIR.  I have never heard of a SR being allowed at another's PIR....never say never, but just sayin'.....

I'm so sorry that they didn't make it into the same PIR group....I know that must be disappointing....

Does anyone know if other recruits are allowed to come to their friends PIR? My and his best friend were suppose to go through under the buddy system, but ended up not being able to. So my son left 4 weeks prior to his buddy. I got a letter from his best friend yesterday telling me that the only way he would be able to be at PIR is if I would talk to CO. I think he thinks that just because I'm a Major in the Air Force that I can pull those strings. But I also worked my way up the ranks and was a seaman recruit in the Coast Guard many years ago and from what I can remember from then was that my brother who was 2 weeks behind me couldn't even come to graduation. I don't think any of that has changed. Any insight??? His buddy is in that 3rd week, we all know who down our young men and women were during those few weeks. So I really want to be accurate with my info when I write him today. I'm sure he's homesick and lonely and looking for that one face that he's always trusted and relied on and was hoping he would finally get to see him at graduation.

Good Morning!

Hoping that I'm a Sailor calls will be received after 2pm Central today from Div 125-128.  Keep those phones close!

Please post your division on here when you get the call so others know when to expect their call. If your new sailor has "watch," know that they may not be able to call with their division, but will later.  Also, be checking FB accounts since your new sailors may get on that before the phones.

tammy/hoosiermamma: My son went to A School in Meridian also, over 4 yrs ago.  He liked it there...of course, they usually really enjoy A School since they have been cooped up so long in Bootcamp.  They phase up to more freedoms now and are back in touch with family/friends which is huge!
