Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by Najul on April 15, 2016 at 12:25am: Thanks everyone for your insight and ideas. I think we will possibly take this additional backpack back home and mail / her what she needs. If she can pull a couple items she really want out and get them in her suit bag or backpack, then fine, but I think limited space she will need to get accustomed to.

Remember, PIR is just the beginning of the Navy journey. Keep plugged into Navy for Moms where there are groups for A school, C school, ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins and multiples, and the "Christian Navy Moms" that I am a part of!

Also, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook puts up photos from each PIR. If you see your Sailor in a pic or more, you can download it to your own computer by either clicking on the picture, going down to Options and downloading it OR right click, "Save Picture As" to a file on your computer~~

New specs, leather (real or synthetic), color of the shoes (black), up to 16"x14"x6" in size. Plain, no big buckles or logos. That's practically the size of a courier bag.

Consider a handbag swap!

Comment by CryptoDad on April 14, 2016 at 8:43am: Najul, the real question is how your daughter will carry the extra backpack in addition to her Navy issue backpack, a sea bag (huge), garment bag (also huge), handbag, folder with orders /tickets and possibly a raincoat. Cut back to essentials or the poor kid will be crushed by her own luggage. ;)

Comment by Najul on April 14, 2016 at 4:31am: Thank you for sharing on the "gate pass". I didn't know that existed and was wondering how I'm going to get this extra backpack to my daughter. I am not even sure if they'll let her bring on an extra carry on, she may have to stuff whatever she can in her backpack and I'll send her the rest. yikes. It's not a lot, you know the norm, good running shoes, phone etc. I wonder if they'll let sailors have an extra carry on?

You can meet your sailor at the airport, get an airlines gate pass (bring ID) to get you through security, and wait with your sailor at the gate until departure. The sailors will be arriving at the airport(s) any time between midnight and 2 a.m. or so. You can meet them out there then or any time after that if you know flight time.
