Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on April 16, 2012 at 3:38pm: Shirley, I believe they are talking about the "i'm A Sailor" call that the recruits get to make the day after they have battlestations. Everyone should get that call and the new Sailor's often can call several family members with the news. There is a chance that a few may miss the call because they have watch but in that case they usually get to make the call up the next day. keep you phone very close the day after they have battle stations. They usually finish it in the early morning and then have the capping ceremony. They get to trade in their recruit cap for a Navy cap and it is a very emotional ceremony for many of them. Then they have other things to attend to but in the afternoon and early evening hours they should get a chance to call home :-)

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP

Hubby had dinner ready when we arrived and I have now caught up on all the laundry and am back to my daily routine. Working on memories :-) I hope you all have a wonderful week. It won't be long now until you are holding your Sailor in your arms :-)
