Hi, all . . . you're about a month away from PIR (Woo-hoo!!!!!!), so I'm going to post a series of lengthy entries on HOW to get personal belongings to your Sailors after PIR, whether they are (1) staying at Great Lakes for A School or (2) Traveling to another location. I also address some thought about WHAT you may want to think about bringing. Finally, you'll see info on Airport Gate Passes, to allow you to spend time in the airport with your sailor.
I recommend creating a folder or binder for your PIR planning. This should have:
your form letter--with the date and the code to get your RTC gate passes if you will be parking on base in your own or a rental vehicle.
your travel itineraries, hotel & rental car confirmations
A print out of all the SARGE meet & greet info; there's also info in this post about restaurants that will "treat" your sailor to a meal and Sarge's phone number--he is an excellent resource!
copy and paste info from helpful posts (that you don't want to forget) into word docs and put them in your folder or binder
Happy planning!
@ hendersonc So happy your SR is doing so well...sure you are a proud momma. Thanks so much for letting me know she went through something similar. Gives me more reassurance and peace. Can believe it is almost that time. Almost two weeks!! Our SR's are our pride and joy!!
@annamomma my sr knee went out as well and she did go to medical and was put on lite duty for a week with pain meds and i received her letter today saying she ran her 1 1/2 miles in 14:16mins. So im sure ur SR got this in the bag.
Okay i forgot to post my good news so i had to copy and paste:Okay everyone i got another letter today and my baby said her HELL WEEK is over so she will most definitely be in graduation April 27th. She said she passed everything but they have inspection Monday which is today and she said she ace'd the first inspection so this one will be a breeze. She said for me to pass her good news and she ole it all to me because when she was doing her Physical training assessment all she keep saying in her head is this is for my momma(teary)she even passed her swimming test with flyying colors. She said their Boot Camp is basically over now and they are getting ready for graduation. They got the rest of their uniforms so she is good to go.YAYYYYY im so happy and proud...i can even breathe!!!
Anna: BattleStations usually start the week before PIR and continue during PIR week.
Melinda - 11/133 - PIR 4/27, TimmysMomma(Ship11/Div131) jbr0001-Ship7-Div 129-4-27-PIR ha... yes i might need drugs also to calm me down ... even saturday when he called i was screeming, because it was again my daughter picking up the phone, and she kept saying is that you, is that you.... yes i cant wait to get up there, that is ALL I AM LOOKING FORWARD to ! we might even run into each other, even so my son is in div. 127 ship 7, i guess we sit so we can see our divisons... woohoo... have a great monday all moms, sisters, wifes...brothers...
Mail on Monday hooray!!! division 131 can mail more now!!!
@ jbr0001- Thanks for your support...means alot to me. To be honest she has always been not so tough when she gets sick. Mom is always there to make her all better ya know....my only one. Just knowing she refused to go to medical - put me in "awe" of her. She did say she was going to try and push through. Wrapping her knee would do wonders.
@diannep BattleStations is the last week...is that correct? Praying for her to have that adrenaline rush!!! Can't wait for her next letter...Friday or Saturday are the days. Are yalls recruits on ship 11 div 134 also?
annamomma: The final PFA is the important one...all must pass that one in order to do BattleStations. Hopefully, she will be fine...and full of adrenaline to pass that run! Yes, go on the No News is Good News theory! If they have to asmo (setback) her, you will get a call. So sounds like she is still on track!
@annamomma-Thats what they all have said in the past..I am so sorry about your daughter..She sound tough so maybe she'll do ok..I wonder if they would wrap her knee for support?
