I will be careful Dianne :-)
Sorry I was away all day, after subbing for HS art I took my stepdaughter to get her driver license today and she passed YAY, that means I no longer have to drive her to school each morning or pick her up in the afternoon. She and my son leave at 5 am tomorrow morning for the Senior Trip and will gone for a week to Washington DC and NY City. So exciting for them, so expensive for us lol. I guess we will have a little taste of what being empty nesters will be like for the next week. Wish me luck lol.
yes, please let me know if there are any recruits in need of mail. I will write my daughter and ask her too.
I sure hope so..I have no pocket change left :)
B3kranch- I just sent the names, but they are for division 131....let me know if you need the full address.....lol, and yes the first check is pretty sad due to all the expense of uniform and such.....he/she should have some pocket money though by the time all is said and done!
It's true...and it's not like mail is just passed out in a quiet manner....the recruits are on the line, at attention or otherwise, waiting intently for their name to be called....It breaks my heart to picture them hoping and praying that they recieve just one piece of mail....addressed just to them....that's why names are important....Even if you have to send a self addressed stamped envelope to your SR with a fill in the blank paper that says, list the names of the recruits that NEED mail.....It matters, it really does....and I don't want to judge the families that don't send it, because they just might not know how important it is, or some of the SR might be estranged from family, but regardless, the TEAM needs ALL of them to be encouraged.....
That break my heart..I try to sent my so a letter every day and he wrote back that is the one thing that thes Sr's look for every day
Thank you passing the word on how important it is to send those letters. My youngest son fortunately received tons of mail when he was at BC, however, my daughter's fiance was in BC 6 years ago (my daughter didn't know him at the time) and he told me that he didn't get any mail at all, even from his mom. He said his mom was upset that he joined the Navy. I felt so badly for him and wished I had known him then and I told him that I was very proud of him for his choice. He even wrote to my son 3 or 4 times while my son was in BC, because he knew how precious those letters were.
AMEN, atimeforart! I so agree. On the 75 from the 4th graders, you are allowed to send those letters in a larger envelope addressed to your SR. That SR can pass them out to others...don't have to have names on them then. They welcome these sweet letters from the kids!
Hi everyone! In your letters to your SRs today, please ask for specific names of recruits who are getting no mail or who need extra encouragement. Some families don't realize just how important mail is to getting through boot camp, I certainly wouldn't have known if I hadn't gone through it myself. It literally got me through from one day to the next.....Some SR's are not getting any and it might just be delay, or perhaps their folks don't even have the form letter, or maybe they don't know the mail is welcome and their SR will get in trouble....Whatever the case, we can certainly send a note of encouragement and how proud we are of them. My son's girlfriend is having all the girls on her broomball team write letters tomorrow, and another mom in this training group is having 75 4th graders write letters.....but we need names or they won't deliver. (security risk)....PRIVATE MESSAGE me the names I did recieve the 3 names from 131 yesterday and they have mail and stamps headed their way!
