For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on March 29, 2012 at 4:55pm: Tiffany - Yes...the best way is to Click on the picture that you want to post, it should open up into a larger picture on it's own page. Then right click and choose "Save Picture as..." and save it to your computer. (rename it so you can find it in your Picture Library).

Then to post a picture... look up in the header bar here on the Comment box and click the second icon over. Should say "Image" when you hold your cursor over it.

You will get another box...choose "Browse" and then your Picture Library will open. Choose the Pic and open it. Wait for it to load. You can resize it. Go to "width"...It will probably come up around 700 + pixels and that can be large. Make it around 350-400. Then click "OK".

Once the pic loads here anyone can click on it and it will open up into a new page of it's own and then you acn zoom in.

I also say that I got the pic from the RTC FB page to "credit" it.

Comment by Chocoholic (ship 02, div 924) on March 29, 2012 at 3:39pm: Just a general FYI: Got a second letter last night. Yay. Poor thing is having ear problems, so she's SIQ (sick in quarters). I'm hoping it's just temporary.

We're planning on driving up the 26th, but we'll be staying at the Residence Inn. Sounds like they have decent handicapped rooms (with a roll-in shower--yes!). Alas, we'll be too late for the Meet-n-Greet, and I would so like to hear Sarge's wisdom for those staying at GL for A school. My daughter is AECF, Katheeh, like your son, so they very well may be in the same sessions at A-school.

Comment by Melinda on March 29, 2012 at 3:33pm: Katheeh, we are driving to Indiana where my son is on Wednesday and then leaving there Thursday, it is a 6 1/2 hour drive. Not so bad. I think we are going to drive instead of shuttle, I won't to be there early enough.

Comment by veteranmom on March 29, 2012 at 3:04pm: Hi everyone, I can't imagine being a recruit and everyday at mail call hoping to hear your name called and never hearing it.....how awful....I just sent a letter to 3 recruits in my sons division that don't get mail....I included 3 stamps and told them to write home....it's quite possible none of these families have internet access or knew to send stamps or calling cards....If you are able to find out from your SR who doesn't get any mail please private message me or others who are willing to write.....even if it's just to share the news of the day. Each of these divisions has to be a team and I feel like we moms can be part of that team by supporting all of them too.

I understand Navy Lodge doesn't have a shuttle but there is one we can order for $3 per person each way. We are renting a car but can't decide how we should get to graduation. If we drive I am planning on being in line early!
