Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by ambmomma on March 25, 2012 at 10:00pm: @ yonda - I believe that the only time they have to write letters is in the evening at bedtime - my daughter mentioned it to me in one of her letters - she usually spends that time shining her boots or studying...she will try and write a letter but she did say that at that point she hits the rack and passes out....so tired. It all depends if they have time. Hang in there....but I will ask her in a letter about it. My heart goes out to you....the letter will come.

Comment by yondaj30 (ship 11 Div 134) on March 25, 2012 at 9:29pm: My job was a religious petty officer in booycamp. I loved every minute of it. I was never in trouble with the rest of the barracks because we had to set up for each service and pir refreshments... It help me survive bootcamp...

Comment by veteranmom on March 25, 2012 at 9:25pm: The recruits are immunized far more than what is typical for the average citizen. They must be ready for deployment in any country against any disease so they are immunized A LOT. On the plus side it's usually with a shot "gun" that hurts a lot more than needles. However the "peanut butter shot" hurts for a day or so. He'll be fine

annamomma: Wisdom teeth extraction in bootcamp is very common. If they think that they will give them any trouble at all when deployed, they take them out...now. Hope all who had theirs out are back to full steam soon!

Comment by ambmomma on March 25, 2012 at 5:01pm: I got my daughter's second letter - after week 2 - they pulled out all 4 of her wisdom teeth. She is in bedrest and med for few days. Any of yours had theirs pulled out too? She is missing us very much. Going to write her an encouraging letter. Can't wait for her call or next letter to see how she is doing.
