Folks,
(diannep...sorry to "duplicate" what you have said...has taken about 30 minutes to type! All the Fam is at home! LOL)
You really need to be careful what you post on here. This is a public site and anyone can access it. Try it, log out...go on the internet and search your username or a topic. I get N4M posts as answers all the time when I am searching for stuff.
Make your Profile Page (My Page) settings viewable only to your friends on here...especially if you have pictures loaded. Members and non members can see everything if it is open to everyone. Change your profile picture to one that does not have your recruit in it...you can change it again after BC.
Please post about how your SR is doing ...but leave out the details. Do not post what they say word for word (it's personal to you) but again in generalities. Do not post negative comments about the RTC staff.
You have got to think about OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, this is a way of life for us now...and our future with our Sailor..."loose lips sink ships".
You can post your own concerns but again...find a way to generalize it. If you want to really "vent" about details I would PM a trusted friend on here but again this is your loved one and how much would they want you too?
Also, I suggest that before you delete, retype without the one negative comment and it will be fine! Good info in there that the other ladies would enjoy reading.
Don't want to say the name here, but I suggest that the person who posted 3 comments below delete your comment please about the "staff" at RTC. They do read these posts...would hate for any derogatory remarks to cause problems for the division or your SR Sorry, because the rest of the post was great...but that one comment about one person can cause trouble. Be careful, ladies.
got our frist phone call-talked for almost an hour! she sounded good and positive, but sort of tired. she passed all her initial tests! eating more that she ever ate! beds not comfortable at all, but too tired to care! misses us and home but has met alot of nice people! with the letters we received and the call today I am confident she has made the right decision to become a sailor!
atimeforart- Well thank God you heard from him...I'm sure a lot of our SR's had shell shock..
@ Shinystuff - My daughter is also ship 11 div 134 - split division with div 133 - I saw your last comment that they are having difficulties in div 133 and 134. What kinds of problems were they having? I am praying for them. Thanks!!
atimeforart-I read somewhere that our SR's mail doesnt get out until Tues. My first letter was received last Saturday. I hope you get one soon!
Still no letter! but it occurred to me that he probably got ALL of the letters from me , his girlfriend and family on the first day they were allowed to write so maybe he didn't have time to write.....guess I feel better knowing he's enjoying the mail, but sure would like to know what he's up to!!
You all be sure to check Southwest Airlines first when booking flights! Deals that Lala mentioned, and even if you can't get that deal, their "no change fee" and "2 bags ship free" are huge incentives. Flying into Milwaukee sometimes is cheaper...less traffic too. 45 minute drive to GL, interstate. Flying into Chicago-Midway....more traffic/probably more expensive. Just remember that the sailors fly out of the Chicago airports the day after PIR. But if your flight is later in the evening or the next day, Milwaukee may be a better choice.
I checked out the flights for us and they come out to almost $500 each. Jeez! I'm going to wait until Tuesday-Wednesday evenings. Airlines usually post lower fares then and see if I can get a better deal. =(
