TimmysMomma: I just checked the spreadsheet that is posted on this site for where A schools are, and it confirms that her A school is there at GL. So why would she think she isn't going to have liberty for the weekend? Not sure. I'll ask her and tell her what I learned here.
TimmysMomma: I thought she had A school there at GL, but I need to check the list here that says where each rating goes.
Thank you CRGmom and Chocoholic! Now I can't remember who needed the teamwork info for their son, I think it was Cathy-and any of the moms with SR's in 133, I saw a post that they are having a hard time, and maybe sending them the teamwork info will rest their minds that it will come together by the end!
Chocoholic The Master at Arms gets yelled at a lot at first, but in the end she will be closer to the RDC's than any of the other recruits....The obviously feel that she has great leadership potential to be able to the rest of the recruits organized. One time when I was in boot camp, about half way through, the RDC's decided to show the recruits that didn't have a major leadership position just how hard it was.....They had the RCPO (r-poc) and MAA and section leaders all step down for the night and assigned new ones.....I was re-assigned MAA....Needless to say it was utter chaos, no one listened, I ended up in tears, and the RDC's made their point.
Atimeforart asked me to post some news from my daughter's letter, so I thought I would. Keep in mind that my daughter is 26 and thus is a bit older than some of the recruits.
First, I was surprised the the letter was NOT written on stationery. I'm not sure how or why, but she got a notebook and wrote the letter on regular lined pages.
She's in the State Flags division, which has a drumline. This surprised me, as my daughter got her degree in music education and specialized on trombone. What is she playing now? Cymbals! She said that might change, though.
As expected, she is super busy. She is Master-at-Arms for her division, so she's in charge of cleanliness and order for the division. She wrote, "I am _busy_ and frequently getting yelled at." But she feels like she's becoming a better, more patient leader.
I had mentioned cleaning with toothbrushes in my letter to her, and she wrote me, "My head crew decided to use their 2nd toothbrush (they gave us 2) to clean with because it can reach in smaller spots for detail work. Totally their choice."
She passed her PFA despite only having 3 or so hours of sleep beforehand. "The swim test was easy," she wrote, "except for the prone float. It's hard to be relaxed when someone keeps bumping into you, which is going to happen when they squish you into a roped off area like sardines."
She had to have some dental work done, but she is like her father--Novocaine does nothing for her. They tried to use something else on her, which sort of worked, but they had to give it to her twice and still the dentist wasn't able to finish the work. She said, "He didn't want to numb my whole face, which is great, because I was already having a Bill Cosby moment with my face on the floor." LOL.
However, she felt she wasn't going to get liberty the weekend of PIR except for some time the day of graduation. That seemed odd. I'm hoping she is just misinformed and the ladies here know better!
She had received two of my letters, so I know they are getting through. To say I was thrilled to hear from her is quite an understatement.
@atimeforart - I posted this a few days ago, but I can't find it in this discussion anymore either so I'm posting it again. Is this what you were looking for?
I thought I'd share a little info on the Stages of Team Development:
1. Forming - getting to know each other; setting the ground rules
2. Storming - people start pushing the boundaries to determine who has power and how much they have
3. Norming - people start agreeing and the team tends to move forward from this point on
4. Performing - team works together well; minimal supervision required
5. Adjourning - team worked together to complete the task at hand and it is now time to recap the lessons learned and move on.
I'm a project manager and I go into client site to run projects. Many times, I'm working with people I've never met before and many times, that specific team has never worked together either. So, I see these stages in all my projects where people are just working together for the first time. Thought this would help us understand a little what is happening with our SRs. This is all natural. Hopefully, they are close to the Norming stage. Once they get there, everything starts falling into place.
Good morning everyone, happy to see some are getting great letters and calls. Try not to worry about the divisions who are having a hard time right now. Sometimes those are the divisions who come out at the end with the highest honors :-)
That's great Henderson! It's good for her because she likely gets to leave the barracks to go pick up the clean laundry and deliver the dirty laundry....It also means she can get the other recruits attention and probably doesn't mind raising her voice!
no letter yet still waiting hopefully today happy for everyone else that is getting mail
Sounds like a good job to me! Better than cleaning the heads!
My SR said she has a Leadership Job passing out the laundry to 80 other females...wonder if thats good r bad(lol).
