Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best days for receiving letters depending on where you live. I am in NC and my letter days was usually Thursdays. So, here's hoping your all will have letters this week :-)
Question: I haven't made airline or hotel reservations yet. I figured I'd wait until we were a little closer to PIR just in case my SR's date changes. Airline tickets from Puerto Rico will be pretty expensive and I don't want to risk having to pay a change fee as well. Do you think I need to make hotel reservations already or will we still find a room if I wait another three weeks?
blm I checked my mail when I got home from work....nothing today but I will keep waiting!!!! Someone else posted that SRs have time on Sundays to write so maybe by Wednesday or Thursday we will get our letters! Fingers crossed!!!
FTLW..Thank you for that information..My dad is retired Army and my parents were going to stay there. I am traveling with my 8 and 6 yr old (who need a brass band 24/7) so a Pool is a must or we will be playing lacrosse on any grass we can find..LOL ..I called the NL and the reservation MUST be in the Enlisted's name and you MUST bring their Form Letter with you..
I had a question about the Navy Lodge. Here is what I remember from when I stayed there. It is around $65-$67 a night ...no tax.
Here is some additional info on the Navy Lodge:
I stay military when I can...hubby has been AF Reserves for 27 years, son is the Sailor...so I have dependant ID. You don't need it for this Navy Lodge. You tell them it is for PIR and they may ask for your Recruits Name and Rate (Navy enlisted have "rate" not rank...it coincides with their pay grade E-1 to E-9 for enlisted. E-3 is the highest rate they can "rank up" too in BC). They may also ask you to bring them by to verify...but I always forget if that is enforced.
It is clean, I did not get a kitchenette as those are first come first serve. We had to queens and a rollaway.TV with DVD player, microwave, small fridge etc. HAd nice furniture and a lobby with a fireplace. Hot coffee 24/7. Vending machines (variety...even one with alcohol! You have to get tokens at the desk for this.) Coin laundry, You can buy Computer time (these look exactly like the ones I saw in Recruit phone Computer room at the NEX) and pay for printer usage. Computers are in front of the elevators on each floor. WiFi has a charge. They do not have a Shuttle Service...but you can ask to arrange for a taxi...again here is where Sarge can come in handy!
Lobby has DVD's for rent, post cards and a Curio with some Navy items for sale. They will give you a temporary pass to use at the small NEX down the road...there is also a gas station (don't need a pass for that).
Here is a pic of the pass (courtesy of Craig):
They do a brown bag breakfast daily...was great for PIR. Bagel, cream cheese, chewy granola bar and large OJ...all in this bag:
Was great for PIR! I don't have pictures of the outside...only our messy hotel room!
The NL is about 1.5 miles from RTC. It is not on base but it is in some of the base housing area.
No letter today..My mailman told me if he sees one he will come here ASAP because I usually do not get my mail till 5pm..LOL But tomorrow is another day!!! Thanks Jbr0001....I am still going with no news is GREAT news...
From what I understand, we may be receiving letters between Wednesday and Thursday because Sundays is when they are given time to write. I believe that is the case. Fingers crossed of course. Even knowing that... I rushed to the mailbox as soon as I saw the mailman pull up... Always hopeful! I did get a letter last week on Thursday.
laur amor my daughter is on the same ship/div-I am still waiting for a letter, none today. how about you?
My son is on Ship 2 Div 924....
I thought that was a special DIV..maybe thats why its taken a little longer and I see Tiffany Ship 11 Div 132 hasn't got a letter either..I hope you get one soon also.
