Good morning everyone!

Melinda.  My son flew to Meridian MS after bootcamp.  He was bussed early Sat. morning to the airport...and after two flight delays (one where they had actually taxied out and had to return to the terminal), he finally left.  Sadly, I was such a newbie back then that I didn't know we could spend time with him at the airport...nor did he--so we missed that.  I had not been on N4Moms much then...and they don't tell them this at RTC (in fact, sometimes they tell the sailors they cannot have family meet them at the airport...not true...unless they happen to be on a charter flight, which occasionally happens...in that case, no family airport visits).

Melinda you should get the remainder of the day after PIR until about 7 pm or maybe a little later before you take her back to the base. And, in most cases you can meet her at the airport really early Saturday morning and spend anywhere form an hour or two to the whole day with her depending on what time her flight is. They don't normally know that for sure until the day before or morning of PIR. Best to plan to come home on Sunday if you can.

To add to LaLa's comment ;-) Please read this Discussion, " After PIR – Liberty; Sailors Departures from RTC " ...that is the direct link for it here on your PIR group. I will also "bump" it to the top of the Discussion Forum.

There are more Discussions on there...it will only show 20 titles at a time...so click "View All" and then scroll through the pages to see the rest.

My daughter will be going to Mississippi for A school. Does anyone know if we will get to spend time with her?

Choco- those staying in Great Lakes will have a few minutes with their family right after PIR on Friday then they move all their stuff to the base across the street. That takes 4 to 5 hours. then they call you to pick them up and they have a few hours that evening with you. On Saturday and Sunday you will most likely be able to pick them up early in the morning and keep them all day and then take them back to the base that evening. There is a chance that they will have a watch at some point during the weekend for 2 to 4 hours but then you pick them up again. Plan to stay until late Sunday or even Monday if you can :-)

Letters for this group will probably arrive next week. Maybe a few this week.
