N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Rainy and cold, yucky!  Hope they had some nice Memorial Day ceremonies for the SR's on this day!  Only 31 days!!!  Whoohoo!!

diannep...Thank you for the info.  My SR told me what she thinks the password is and she is going to request another letter.  Hopefully the word she told me is correct!  I'm not asking anyone to share the info as I know that would not be acceptable.  I wonder what box she put the letter in and why no one has a key to it.  Seems kind of strange.

Happy Memorial Day Mom's!  The joy I have in my heart to know that my SR is beginning on this amazing journey makes my heart swell with pride.

On a poopy side, I missed my phone call AGAIN yesterday!!  Boo!!!  My SR (03/244) told her dad when she last called that they would only be making calls on Saturdays so of course I stayed in the house all day Saturday and missed the call Sunday...heartbroken!  She thought her next call might be June 7th a Friday, any other Mom's hear that info?

Kaleigh's Gramma, I'm not sure this is the place to give that info (security gate and parking pass codes) but i'm sure if you call the RTC and speak to someone, they can help!

I would love to share her responsibilities and volunteer stuff but do you think that will make her a target of her Superiors?

Gate passes will be available to download on the RTC site 11 days before PIR.  The password from the form letter is needed for this, so all please keep that letter/password safe!  RTC asks that you not share passwords with each other.   Honestly, we are not even sure how the passwords work.  Do certain SRs have certain passwords or an entire division?  We just don't know for sure so it is best if you get the password from your form letter or from your SR.

Michele:  We enjoyed Residence Inn Waukegan.  Lala, FTLW, and ellen stayed at Navy Lodge and enjoyed that one too.  The other ones we have heard good reviews on are Springhill Suites Waukegan/Gurnee and Courtyard Inn Waukegan/Gurnee.

CatMom said that Holiday Inn Express, in the same area, is good too.

Kaleigh'sGramma:  I have been told that they can request a 2nd letter to be sent in certain situations, like divorced parents.  But really, she should be able to give you the password.  She is the one who would have written in.  So ask her to please mail you the password so you will be able to get your gate pass (to drive on base).  She shouldn't have a problem getting that to you.

Need some help, please.  Found out from my Div 244 SR yesterday that she placed the form letter in the incorrect box, it's still in the box, and no one has a key.  I told her to explain this to someone in charge and to find out if she can send another form letter.  Does anyone know if a replacement form letter is a possibility?  If not, how can we get the password to print the parking pass for PIR?

Comment by MicheleT on May 27, 2013 at 11:10am

I know there are many hotels in the area, but does anyone who has stayed for PIR have any preferences?
