~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Navymom09/245 - I wonder if you got the same one that I did!
CatMom: This site was started by the Navy, but you are right in that it is not an official part of the Navy. I understand that some of the recruiters do pass along this site info (like FTLW said), others may not. Also, it could be given to the recruits, but never makes it to the parents! I have a feeling that is what happened in my case....I found N4Moms by searching on google for Navy bootcamp support! Wheew! Glad I found it.
Cindyloohoo: Just remember that there are 2 MeetandGreets setup for you all already! The night before PIR....FTLW has a discussion above in the Discussion Forum with the info! All you have to do is attend and enjoy! :-)
Hi Mom's! Tickets booked and staying at the Navy Lodge.... and soo excited for our SR's. We MUST begin our planning for the meet and greet yes?
I wish the recruiters would direct their recruits families to Navy for Moms, but since we are not an official Navy department or whatever, probably not. I remember at one of the last DEP meetings we were at, I was asking my daughter's recruiter about something I saw here and one of the other petty officers said that I shouldn't be spending so much time on Navy for Moms!! Maybe they think ignorance is bliss?? I think not! lol!!
Good Afternoon!
"As for God, His way is perfect;
the Word of the Lord is flawless.
He is a shield for all who
take refuge in Him."
Psalm 18:30
My son's GF got a letter today. Not mom :( but at least she did!
how exciting navymom! I hope to hear from my SR soon even if it is through his sweetheart, I can't imagine they have much time to write
YAHOO!!! Got our first letter from out SR today! I can hear his voice through his writing. Everything is good there. He did say to keep the letters coming! He is ship 12, Div 237. Anyone else have the same? So proud of him.
Only 43 more days ladies!!!!
shirleyann, There have been several in the PIR groups that have had students at a school write to the SRs. The mail does need to be addressed to a specific SR, so put them in a manila envelope and send them to your son. You should probably warn your son they are coming, and ask him to hand them out. He will most likely have to open the envelope in front of the RDCs, but they have no problem with SRs receiving them and handing them out:)
Make sure those that are writing the letters know to include their return address, some may get a response back if time allows for them to write.
