Thank you! Thank you! To all members that so nicely offered me help and advise.

My sister and mother still have plans to go, I really hope they let them in, since they might need to wait until all the invites in the list enter first.  I really hope they can make it. Thank you specially to Cbadillo thatso kindly offered to let  my to join them.  Thank again for all your help.  Hope you all enjoy the 4th of July celebrations and PIR with your love ones!!!

Lorna, just tell them to go and when they get there get in line to check in. They will give the person his name and then give their names. Tell them he didn't think anyone from his family would be able to come. If there are no names on his list they will most likely pencil the names in and let them right in with no waiting. My husband was on the list but then couldn't go. I took my Dad instead and told them what happened. They marked out my husbands name and added my dad's. No problem at all. They are all super nice and very accommodating :-)

It is so wonderful that some of you all want to invite sailors with no family/friends there to visit with your own families.  They so appreciate this.  Although they are allowed to leave RTC with "a buddy", it is so much better to be able to celebrate with a family!

Well would ya look at that calendar...Only a Tues, a holiday, and a Thursday to get through, then a wake up to see your SAILORS!!!!Dancing Cat

Safe travels and Happy Fourth of July week to all of you!! What a wonderful weekend you are going to have.

Hi Lorna,

My SR is Div 205 also.  We told him the day is his to do what he wants and to and if anyone else did not have family and wanted to come with us, they are welcome.  I agree, as I feel lucky we get to go, no one should be left there alone if their family is unable to make it.   Someone on the forum said they took a bunch of SR to a sports place where they hung out, enjoyed the big screen and ate good food.  If that is what a bunch want to do, that is fine with us.  My SR is called JD by us, but sometimes calls himself Joey/Joseph but not sure how easy it is for them to find each other out of their own Div's.

We came into town about 4 pm and it wasn't terrible....but was pretty heavy.  At least we kept moving!

Such a wonderful gesture, cbadillo.  I know that sailor will so appreciate it!

Diannep:  Thanks for that info about the pass.  I will certainly get that when I pick up the car.    I think I will take the straight shot as well.  how bad was the traffic?

Comment by cbadillo on July 2, 2012 at 6:47pm

Lorna,  What Div is your son in?  My son is in Div 205 and he shared that another SR in his div did not have any family coming to PIR.  He asked if he could join us which we of course said he most certainly was welcome to do.  If this is your son, your mom and sister are welcome to join us also.  We don't want any SR to be alone on this very special day.

Lorna:  No problem.  Have your sister/mom go!  They may have to wait to get in, but with proper ID, should be able to get in.  The lists for PIR probably have already been UPDATED anyway....but please tell them to go.  I doubt they will even have to wait if he had no names on his list.  They sometimes make those who have more than 4 names wait.

If you want to make sure, call the Public Affairs Office tomorrow and ask about it:  847-688-2405  But I know they can get in to be with your son!
