I drove...the Parking Garage is at the south end from Midway hall...and at first glance on a Mapquest (which looks REALLY old if you go to satelite view and zoom in...lots of dirt!)...looks far away from it. It actually feeds into the Visitors Center...the USS Yorktown. Which then feeds into Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall. There are various "museumlike" scenarios of Recruit Training (and security with dogs) within the VC to look at while you are in line for the security checkpoint...if you can remember to look at them! I did not, and wish I could go back! The Shuttles drop you off at a staging point just inside Gate 8...which is closer to the North end of Midway Hall. From there it is about a 100 foot walk to the North end entrance (is there an entrance there any vet moms?...or is it the West side...in which case it is about 300 ft.) I have heard from recent PIR's that moms that have been told it is a shorter distance (which technically it is from the shuttle) you will be waiting outside in the elements. BUT if you walk around to the South entrance (Parking Garage side) you will be waiting inside. Even if you take the Shuttle BUT you decide to drive your Sailor back to RTC and are allowed entrance to drop them off either at the Parking Garage or across the base at the Chapel parking lot...you will need a vehicle pass. If not, you will have to drop them off at the Gate...which means extra walking time. Sailors are not allowed to run...or "double time it" back to their Ships...only walk. The Ships are South and SW of Midway Hall. Civilians are not allowed South past the Chapel or the Parking Garage. I'll post some Maps of RTC (these are public knowledge.)

Actually...I stumbled across CC results! It seems that they usually don't post them as the RTCFB dynamics change over the weekend as to how posting goes...so didn't expect it. I had to look and double check it and even after I did I kvetched a bit as to wether or not I got the right results!
They did not (nor have I seen them ever) post about the Chant...that has to come from our dear m,embers here I think!
$3/pp each way. Sailor usually returns for free to hotel.
Yes, the shuttles pick you up at the front gate after PIR...I believe they leave from there up until about noon (PIR is over at 10:30). Go back to the hotel.

You are GOOD, FTLW! That has to be the quickest that the Captains Cup results have been posted on here....thanks to you! You must be rested because you are "on vacation." :-) Hey, who won the motivational chant award at Captains Cup???
Congrats to 815 and 934!
Why, thank you, FTLW! And...right back atcha! :-)
cbadillo: Well, there have been "satisfied customers" who have taken both the shuttle and have driven! We took the shuttle...it was wonderful. We were on the 6:30 shuttle, arrived at 6:40 at the front gate, no line to go through security, and arrived at the PIR Hall just a few minutes after 7. There were already alot of people there, even though it didn't start until 9 a.m. The top row--choice seats-- on the bleachers were already gone! Those are the ones were you can lean up on the concrete wall. So you all better get there early regardless of how you go!
Now, others, like Lala and FTLW (not sure about Betsy?) drove and that was fine too. Just means waiting in a car line for a while--but then you head out after PIR and go where you want to rather than returning to the hotel as the shuttles have to do. By the way, the shuttles bypass the car lines. Thanks for the kind words! All of us N4Moms veterans love helping on these groups!
Here are the results from Captains Cup from the RTC FB page:
I am staying at the Red Carpet inn too... I switched my reservations from Navy Lodge to Red carpet because red carpet is much cheaper and free shuttle service... So Im not sure now if I will go to Flanagins meetngreet or Ramada.. but either way Im sure I will see all of you fri. :)
Not diannep (isn't she great though?... along with my other dear veteran moms!).Captains Cup lasts the morning I believe. Here is a link to an article about it by NSTC:
