PIR takes place in Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall located on RTC. It starts promptly at 9 AM and ends at 10:30 PM. Gate 8 (entrance for RTC) opens usually at 6:30 AM. They ask that everyone to please be seated by 8:45 AM.
There is a video Monitor in the middle of the Hall showing trivia etc and announcements for attendees to watch while they wait. Coffee and snacks are sold at either end of the hall for your refreshment. You may bring your own snacks (all bags are subject to search) or water etc.
They also sell the "Dixie cup"... Sailor hats for children for about $5. The want to wear Daddy's or Mommy's and I am afraid that that is not allowed.
Please arrive at Recruit Training Command’s gate with enough time to process through all security check points before 8:45 a.m., the process time varies from graduation to graduation but is no shorter than 30 minutes.
Here is the schedule from the RTC Website:
6:30 a.m.
RTC gates open to visitors and security screenings begin.7 a.m.
Ceremonial drill hall doors open to graduation guests.8:45 a.m.
All guests should be seated.9 a.m.
Pass-In-Review commences.9:20 a.m.
Divisions arrive.9:45 a.m.
Arrival honors to reviewing officer.10:30 a.m.
Pass-In-Review concludes.10:35 a.m.
Liberty Call, Recruits meet with guests on drill deck. Recruits and guests exit ceremonial drill hall to designated parking area.7:00-9:00 p.m. or as dictated by Chain of Command
Liberty expires. Please note: Recruits must walk back to their designated ships, so allow the recruit ample amount of time to reach their destination.
I will post a MAPS of RTC Discussion up above.
Congatulations to all!
Amber, hang in there. We are all praying for you and your SR. He may just be on watch duty. I was worried that would happen with my son but he said he had watch yesterday so today other SRs had it. Let us know what you hear. He did say all div passed and no one from 205 had been ASMOed.
Angelsince71. I had emailed the Navy lodge just because it was closest but wanted a little kitchenette and they were out mid-May so I went to the Red Carpet as it is only 4 miles away from PIR, they have a shuttle, and I read better on-line reviews than the Ramada Inn. But they both have Meet & Greet at their place/next door. We got 1 king bed for $55.00 with the Navy PIR disc so not bad, more to shop with later. All 3 places + others are recommended in the brochure that was sent with the gate pass info. And all have some kind of shuttle services. If you can't find the brochure, just Google it and email them a ?.
Hey Amber, just had a thought. Wasn't it stated that if they did not pass BS they could go with the next group? So if all 205 passed and he did not go throught, maybe as he went to the doc yesterday he was held up and may go tonight or on the next one. But possibly he can't call to tell you as you know they can't just call unless something really bad or known delay. I know the wait is the hardest part but please hang in there! Hopefully he was just the one on Watch. You are sweetie to keep his Mum from worrying! Hang in there!
I got a call! My son is officially a sailor now and I could never be more proud. :-)
He said all of 208 that participated in battlestations passed and he joined a push up competition for the Captains Cup this weekend. LOL. He sounded so tired but so excited too. He said their RDC told them they could go to the store and get anything they wanted to eat and he is getting a Butterfinger and the biggest Dr. Pepper they have. Sounds like my boy.
Can't wait for PIR next week and then on to the next exciting chapter in this journey! YAY DIV 208 SOLDIERS!!!
I have a sailor!!!!! :) I am so happy right now... he has worked really hard. Not bad for being the oldest guy in his division. He turned 32 last week! He did say that one guy did not pass. He told me his name. If you don't get a call and think it might be your SR please send me a PM and we can figure it out from there.
Does anyone have any other info on Graduation; like the time and place? What do you know about the Navy Lodge??? Im sure its already booked but crossing my fingers anyway.
