If he is reassigned to 211 he is on their Training Schedule and a part of that Division. So he will take the PFA with them and everything else he needs to do ...with them. He cannot take it with them and then move back to his old Division.
The difference here is that your son has been moved to another division...so he is a part of it now. He did not fail his PFA or swim on the schedule with his old division...but must have been ill enough that he missed enough training days to where he was too far behind (but now too far as it was only a week delay) to be able to catch up and finish on time with them. I am sure that rather than push him too...it is better for him to have a fighting chance ...so to speak.(This is a guess on my part as to the actual circumastances based on what you said about him having pnuemonia and not taking his PFA yet...he will certainly have all of the details!)
I think you might be thinking about those that fail their swim or PFA ...go into FIT...have a couple of more opportunities to pass it before their PIR date...go through BS21 with whatever available Division there is before PIR and then attend their original PIR. That's not your sons case right now...since PAO has stated that he is in a new division.
No...sorry for any confusion. If the PFA is the only test he has left...he will take it with 211, since he has been reassigned to that Division and given a new PIR date...and do BS21 with them.
I know this is very stressful for you (my son had to pass his PFA...had not done so with the first two...so I was on pins and neeedles!), and that you would especially love to hear his voice right now...as that would be the most comforting thing. I am hoping it will happen soon for both of you! :-)
I am sure that some of the delay in having him call is that he has to be settled into his new division etc...believe it or not I don't think it is quick process...not that they don't try to be efficient...but i am thinking about all of his equipment, paperwork etc.
Since it is Friday...and the weekend is coming, I hope you get to hear from him soon.
leftwayleft - This is your sons new Division that he has been assigned to since that is what PAO told you...along with the corresponding PIR date of 07/06.
So he is "on track" with this division wherever it is at in it's training...so there are probably a few more tests for him to finish up as well as training days. My "guestimate" is that 211 would be at the tail end of Training Week 5 or beginning of Training Week 6.
So he is at the same "place" that all of the other recruits are in 211...still has to finish Training, pass all tests in order to do Battlestations.
What you read about recruits being set back, finishing and then going on to "A" school is for those recruits that do not pass their tests before their PIR date...thus not being able to do Battlestations before their PIR date...and PIR.
Your son is not in this position...he is on track with 211.
