Oh wow nssmom...so I hope that that is it then! I am sure it was a huge adjustment to her system...and then BC! Yes...it is good that in THU she can have a few "comforts" to help out! Please keep us posted!

I agree with Amber, PIR was amazing. I do have to admit that from the first recruiter visit until yesterday the hardest part was watching my son walk away when we took him back to RTC. Those few hours with him were great and I am going to treasure every bit of time with him in the future.

Blessings in disguise nssmom! Enjoy your extra time together! I hope that she is doing well and pray for positive results of her lab work!

Yep, Jmama:  I agree with ellen and FTLW.  The USO is the best place to meet up with the sailors.  Enjoy!

By the way...we went to OHare to see our son off in the middle of the night. It felt eerily like the day we left him at MEPs all over again. I am quickly learning that the happy hellos will always end with a proud, tearful goodbye and we need to make the most of the short time we get. This time though, because of all of you, I am confident he is in good hands.

PIR was amazing! This was an experience I'll never forget. I was speechless (probably for the first time in my life according to my husband). I cannot put into word how amazing it was to see my confident Sailor son and meet some of his friends as well as some N4M ladies. We are staying in Chicago to see some sights until Tuesday. One Sailor in my sons division didn't get to leave for school with his group due to some red tape and his parents have to fly back so we plan to invite him with us if he has extra liberty time to spend. I can't thank all of you veteran moms enough for what you do here. Not only did I get great information and moral support but I met some great people. Eight weeks ago I thought I'd never survive this path my son chose. Now I couldn't be prouder to call myself a Navy Mom! Thank you just doesn't seem like enough.

For Midway the USO is before the secured area so you must have the gate pass in order to get through. Your Sailor will need to come out and meet you to do so.:

The USO at Midway is located in Concourse C. USO Midway 773-582-5852

I agree with ellen0502. The USO at O'Hare is before the secured area so anyone can access it. It is in Terminal 2 on the Mazzanine Level.

The USO at O'Hare is located in T-2 Mezzanine Level - before the security check-point. USO O'Hare 773-686-7396

Jmama, I would suggest going straight to the USO at O'Hare, it is before security. If you can get there before your son does you should be able to meet up with him and not miss him.

diannep do you have any suggestions about the airport situation?????
