librarymom, I bet that was awesome! Thank you and thank your husband for his service from me too.
twopercentmom, a lot of ladies do that with their phones , lol.
Good morning and thanks diannep....I most definitely look forward to that next call. I will have to try to wear my phone like the guys do....LOL! Instead of clipping it to my pants or belt buckle, I will clip it to the side of my bra....;-))))
Librarymom, thank you so much, I am so glad your ribbon and window decal arrived and I am so happy that you love them. I know you will wear them with so much pride for your Sailor, both on your shirt and on your car lol. Please thank your husband for his service to our country from me and be sure and thank your soon to be Sailor as well :-)
thanks to you as well twopercentsmom :-) And please let me know what you think of the ribbons when they arrive.
I really do appreciate your orders and your kind words.
librarymom: I say....thank you for your service and sacrifice...to your husband also!
twopercent...: They can usually call twice and then have to move on...sounds like the division was allowed to make some calls? So sorry you missed it...but the GOOD news is that 205/206 should go through BattleStations first...and that should be next week! Can't post the exact dates on here...and I don't know the exact date yet, but know it will be next week. THEN you will get that long and wonderful "I'm a Sailor" call!
Good morning all!
What an unbelievable day this has been ! My husband and I rode in a "Welcome Home" ride for some wounded warriors who are having some time at a local lake. My husband is a VV vet. The outpouring of support from the communities was overwhelming. I found myself tearing up as lines and lines of patriotic citizens shouted "Thank You". Not just to the young guys but to my husband and his old geezer friends as we rode along. Here's the link www.independentmail.com , It was a wonderful event. (My sunburn will pass!).
Then, when I got home, I had a WONDERFUL box from LaLa with my ribbon and a wonderful decal. This made it seem like this BC thing is really ending. I am packing even now and can't wait to wear my ribbon. Look for me at the meet and greet.! Thank you LaLa Ribbon Queen for your great service.
Then, the best part.....A LETTER ! My SR says they got to write Thursday for some reason. How delicious to hear his "voice" through his words on paper.
Thank you, Lord, for these gifts today to help me be strong till that great PIR day!
Well I certainly appreciate you both (CrazyNavyMom and LalaRibbonQueen). I ordered my ribbons from Lala and I can't wait for them to get here.
I got a surprise phone call today which I missed (I was so mad at myself...he actually called on my lunch break but my phone was on silent from being in the office). He called at 2:23, then 2:25 and I noticed at 2:28 (4:30 his time) and I waited and waited and he didn't try a 3rd time. He must of just had some free time. And my stupid voice mail was full, so frustrating...so no voice mail. I hope everything is okay and I'm hoping for another. I missed his first one as well. Then I start over-thinking it and wondering if he was calling to tell me something, because honestly I wasn't expecting another call until just before PIR saying "Hi mom, I'm a sailor!" Ahhhhh....haven't got to talk to him in so long. I've done well up to this point, now it's starting to wear on me. Only 18 days though...woo hoo!!
Thanks so much for the kind words CrazyNavyMom, I appreciate that. Glad you liked your ribbons and yes, the time really does fly after boot camp :-)
hey all!! welcome to the crazy world of a navy mom.. i know you are well into your journey now!!! This is a good place to be to talk with others, share joys and saddness.... I was in your shoes in 2011! omg feels like yesterday!!! and I hated it... and still I shudder to think!!! With that said..it is over soon and if it makes you feel any better, bout 80% of the kids i talk to say they would redo boot camp. SICK KIDS HUH? so..this is part of a mommy's life... raise em up and send em off... but they are in good hands. Please do plan to attend the meet and greet whoever is handling that nowdays..its nice to meet all the women you talk to on here. My group did fun things together online, like we all decided to wear pink scarves (now i see all the groups do it), we posted pics of ourselves in our scarves... and made each other smile. Another thing we did is we all bought PIR ribbons from LALA Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons. Why lala? she has been a participating member of this forum forever..since her daughter went thru bootcamp... she has been member of almost every group here, offering advice, consoling and being a friend to anyone that needs her. She isn't just here to promote her business. but with that said, her quality is unsurpassed! She makes lots of navy momentos, and other military group items, but her Ribbons will be one you will cherish forever. and they look good in scrapbooks. I see she has just posted here .. so her post is below mine.. but you can check out her things at http://www.uniquememorymakers.com and on facebook too at uniquememorymakers.
For anyone who has not found this group yet there is a Facebook group that is for any PIR date and DIV. Lots of people meeting there and finding others from their DIV and having private chats. So please join the group if you like. Just be sure to come back to this page and post any news or questions as well. Some people don't "do" Facebook and they like to hear all the good stuff as well. And you would be surprised at how many are hear trying to get info about what is happening to their recruit who are too shy to post anything at all. A lot of Mom's our age have never really used a computer very much so they are not only learning about the Navy they are learning a whole new way of communicating. If you are one of those or anyone else and need someone to talk to or ask questions in private here is my email address. uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com Send me an email and I will give you my number :-) and here is the link to the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/
