Lala's ribbons were beautiful! I ordered them for my first son's PIR on 6/1 and we got lots of compliments and questions as to where we got them! Just placed another order for son #2! I also ordered an extra for them to keep...Beautiful work, Lala! Thank you!
Thanks Dianne and Juliebelle, I really appreciate your kind words about my ribbons. Anyone can also reach me by sending me a friend request on this site, an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com here is a link to my facebook page

Thanks again :-)
Amber, we bought our Sailor a really nice crucifix with an anchor as a cross. There are lots of them available online from less than $20.00 to several hundred. Just do a search for Mariners Cross. And remember what Diannep said below about it having to be silver or white gold and smaller than the dog tags.
Mom2TJ, that's just awesome!
Yah, Mom2TJ! What a great call!
good morning all... got a call this morning! YAY! he is doing so well.. he said he is div leader (i believe that is what he said) and he got a letter from the commanding officer (?) and he commended him on his hard work, ability and aggressivness that he has shown in BC to becoming a Sailor!! I am soo proud of him.. I am so looking forward to seeing him in July... im getting very excited. Im sure they are all too.
Amber: As far as what they can take back to RTC with them, they are allowed a small silver or white gold religious medal that will fit on their dogtags and they are allowed a silver or black watch. No gold. You can buy whatever you like for your sailor, but it may not be allowed on RTC. You would have to meet your sailor at the airport and deliver these if your sailor is flying out to A School....or wait until your sailor has moved onto GL A School base, has liberty, and they can return with these gifts. Others may give their sailors gift cards that they can use once they arrive at their A Schools. And some will "shop" with their sailors after PIR in the GL/Chicago area.
The choice is yours!
DadMom: Left a comment on your page in answer to your question!
I, too, missed an information call. I found out later it was for the routing number for my SR's checking account. they decided that my SR would join the navy bank and then change at a later time. I worried for 2 weeks that something was wrong. this group is great for encouragement and support. (and stress relief!)
Good morning all!
Valerie: I agree with Lala....sounds like it may have been an info "supervised" call and they aren't allowed to leave a message. Hopefully he wrote you a letter yesterday to explain or will call back today.
By the way, for those who are interested in ordering PIR ribbons, please click on Lala's icon below to go to her page and see what she offers/her contact info. She has been doing this for about 2 yrs and believe me, there are many many satisfied customers! She has pictures on her page of the ribbons and can "customize" them for you. She also gets them to you quickly. So please visit her page!
