Yeah, my daughter was SIQ when she had her wisdom teeth pulled and she missed the call home. i can tell you she was not happy about that. I was so worried because I was the only one on this site from that division who did not receive a call. 2 or 3 days later she finally got to make up the call. She and I both were so happy to talk to each other. She said she had been SIQ and had a lot of down time so I should expect a really long letter. I got it a few days later. 4 pages of her ranting and raving about how getting her wisdom teeth pulled did not affect her walking or talking at all. She might not be able to eat solid foods but she could talk just fine. On and on and on lol. It was a great letter and an even better phone call :-)

another day, no letter. *sigh*

juliebelle:  I paid the fee for Southwest ($10)...HA!  Was too afraid I would forget!

librarymom:  Time driving from GL to Midway airport depends on traffic.  It is a good hour without too much traffic...I have been told.  And remember, Chicago has some of the heaviest traffic around!  :-)  Maybe if driving there in the middle of the night to wait with your sailor for their flight won't take as long.  Can't imagine traffic is too bad then???

Just received another letter!! Woohoo - however he states he has a collar device to wear to show leadership ??? Anyone help out with that one? Says he is getting teeth pull too - wonder how they still do PT in pain like that!?

HOw long did it take you to drive to GL from Midway?

I totally agree with diannep about SW airlines.  We flew them and it was easy peasy.  :)

misskatiebaby...got a letter last wed. but no call yet.  Been 3 wks 2 days, where's the phone call???  ughh

Comment by diannep on May 31, 2012 at 7:47am

librarymom:  To add on to Lala's post about Southwest....they fly into Chicago-Midway (furthest airport from RTC...but also one that some of the sailors will fly from when headed to A School the day after PIR)...and they fly into Milwaukee.  Check both rates.  Milwaukee has no traffic and is a straight-shot on the interstate to RTC....45 minutes.  Some of the other N4Moms veterans have gone this route and said it was wonderful.

I just flew Southwest recently and will say...it was wonderful to check my bag with no charge (you can check 2 with no charge) and to know that if I needed to change my ticket for any reason, there is no change fee.  Worth checking out!
