Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on May 30, 2012 at 9:57pm: librarymom, often you can get regular tickets and pay the change fee if a change occurs for less than refundable tickets costs. You should also check out Southwest. If you can fly with them they usually have better prices and don't charge a fee for a checked bag (maybe 2) and they don't have a change fee if you plans change. You just pay the difference in the cost of the ticket. Sometimes they run special rates for $69 to $89 dollars for a one way ticket and you buy one for each flight there and back. Check their website not online deals through the internet. I think they are called Gotta get away specials. When comparing prices be sure you are checking for all the hidden fees that many airlines charge :-)

Last names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on the N4M’s website. So, if your usename has your last name and it is the same as your Recruit/Sailor, you will need to change it. If it is different it is still not a good idea as this is a public site and anyone may read the posts…they do not have to be a member. That is your choice though. Please make sure you review the N4M’s Community Guidelines and OPSEC .
