it was 847  area code.  I tried calling the number back but it was like a fax machine sound.

Watch your mailboxes...He said they have all Sunday morning till 1pm to write or do anything.  I'm only 5 hrs away so that's probably why i get things quicker.  I'm so excited for everyone to get their letters.  Oh yeah, his girlfriend got 3 letters...go figure. She's lucky i love her...lol

drjclary: what area code is it ...or was it a private number?

Comment by MyLAS (My Lips are SEALed) on May 23, 2012 at 8:04pm

I missed it today :(.  Was driving.... and talking on phone... couldn't see the number on my phone in the sun.  My SR also called my husband (that;s who I was talking to) but his ringer was off so he didn't even hear the beep.

HossLuvinNayvMom:  You are doing a great job on encouraging your sailor and providing "funnies" to relax the tension!  Keep up the good work!

As far as no note in the box...although a few manage to sneak in some words on the "flaps" or a note, most don't.  That is because so many orders are being shouted at them at one time, they can hardly think!  They don't want to do anything wrong...so they err on the side of caution.  Sorry he didn't write a few lines on the form letter, but my guess is that he still may be a little overwhelmed at the moment.  The first 1/2 of bootcamp is pretty intense for them...but it gets better!

I am so glad for you katyellen, for getting your letter!

Busy as it has been, I have managed to send a card daily (combined on weekend) so far since got the address last Thurs. Sent the address (and rules) to friends and family.  I bought 2 funny daily calendars (that have games and stuff printed on the back) and tear out current day, as well as a few from prior dates that have funny things he would relate too (like the dog told to sit on the pychiatrists couch telling the doc he is not allowed on the couch!).  I stick them in a card and add a letter if did one the night before.  This way he can also share the funnies with others.  Been so busy it would be easy not to do this but ensuring I do, as reading here it seems important to them.  I guess I thought at 23 he did not need this but I hear they really are hard on them and they really like getting letters etc.  Last night we bought a bunch more funny "thinking of you" and "encouragement cards" so ready to send daily.  I was bummed not to get any note in his box or form letter and just can't wait and really hoping for a letter soon to see how all is going!  We got in at midnight last night and my husband told me just to leave the mail to get the next day - NO WAY!

THANKS TO ALL for the advise and words of wisdom - have no idea how I would have been idle through the 8 weeks and how to get all done to get to IL for PIR without this great support line!
