I got 2 letters from my daughter today that she mailed Monday. I usually get them on Thurs. or Fri. each week. I get mail much quicker from her than she does from me. I think it takes about 10 days for her to get my mail judging from when she tells me she receives them. The man at my post office says it a 2 day trip from here to there (VA to IL), so I guess they have a lot of processing to go through after it's received.
a few of the moms (along with myself) are saying that their SRs are telling them they haven't gotten mail. My son told me he has only gotten my mail once last week. I have sent out at least 8 letters in the last week--including those lovely surveys. I know it is stressed to family and friends to write but it's sad that they aren't getting their mail. our SRs are div 243 and 244. they changed ships but I was being told that their mail will be forwarded
Jmaries: No matter what you envision, no matter how many youtubes you watch, it is still going to be phenomenal to be there with your new sailor! The emotions and pride you feel are out of this world! I get so excited for you all....I started crying when I entered PIR hall and didn't stop until after I hugged my sailor!
I've been watching some youtube PIR videos. I need more kleenex now and we have 2 weeks until we all get to see our new Sailors. I cannot wait!! I am trying to envision what it's going to be like. I just want to hug him so tight and no one better get in the way of this mama lioness..just kidding. Makes me miss him more just watching the videos. I don't think I've cried so much.
Melissa, he said there's some chatty guys but wasn't complaining. He felt they were all getting better too as a whole. He seems to be happy about the new stuff they are doing but also is whipped by the end of the night. Hoping we get another call soon.
Thoughts and prayers for her, Lala. Poor thing...
alicia: I understand your concerns, but they are very vigilante with these SRs. So feel sure that they work out the blood donation with their PT schedule. Haven't ever heard from anyone on this site that this was a problem for their SR.
Good morning everyone!
Good Morning everyone. For everyone who has been praying for my Sailor thank you so much. I can't even begin to tell you how much we appreciate that. She seems to be feeling a little better but had to have a CAT scan yesterday. We will hopefully hear good news from that today and maybe by Monday she will be able to go from SIQ to LLD. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Thanks so so much, Lora (aka lala)
Hello everyone with soon-to-be-Sailors! Your BattleStations are coming up quickly, huh? I thought I would drop by and introduce myself. I'm Jenn. My husband graduated 7/20 and we went to the graduation. I can answer questions about graduation and if your Sailor is staying at Great Lakes for A School, I might be able to help with those questions as well. I don't know what I would have done without my PIR group, so I want to pay it forward! Feel free to private message me as well. I posted a new discussion with my advice to beat the line into the RTC gate on PIR morning. I stayed on base, and was surprised at how easy it was to get in when coming from that direction.
