They will probably receive a "coin" momento for their blood donation -- this will be sent to the address they used when entering the Navy, so watch your mailboxes!

purplegiraffe:  Hmmmm....good question.  My son gave blood when there.  Never asked him the circumstances...he had done it in high school too ( I DO think he got an extra A in a class for doing that!).  But they are in great shape while in bootcamp, are eating healthy, exercising, having no alcohol, cigarettes, sugar, etc...when would their blood be in better shape?  :-)

I am shocked they can give blood during bootcamp, maybe they get out of IT or any PT for the day?   How can you give blood and be so active the rest of the day?

he says it's getting easier and easier.  but there's a lot of talking still among their group but he added a "lol".  He was pumped about their next week..thought it was going to be kick***.  I smiled at that. He said because he had a rare blood type he and some others were going to donate blood.

thank you dianne.  I know he did have an appt to donate blood last week sometime. but you're right about he probably got the letters after he mailed his letter out.  :)

T'sMom:  Phone calls are so totally random.  Just up to the RDCs.  And...a SR may miss the division one if he/she has watch or an appt.  So just keep that phone glued to your side!

Jmariesmom:  Messaged you back.  Hoping that your son wrote the letter last Tues, dropped it in the outgoing mail (which probably didn't go out until this past Monday if they are only allowed to send out mail once a week), but maybe received all of the "missing" letters after he had dropped this in the mailbox.

Fingers crossed that his flow of mail is coming in now!

No letter today....I have been getting a letter every Wed for the last few weeks...hoping for one before the end of the week. Wishing I could get a phone call not sure how all this works but I have only got one call and he didn't get to talk very long and that was the 1st weekend in July.

thanks Alicia. I thought it was 5-4. I was trying to figure out the day he wrote me his last letter, by what he told me they did that day, which would have been last tuesday.  He asked me about anyone from home, friends and family writing to him.  I know some of his friends and grandpa have written to him but wondering if they get their mail each night if they have any.  He must have mailed this last letter out on sunday night because it was postmarked on monday the 23rd.

Good to know, my son is in 242.

Jmaires:  Thinking that today is possibly 5-4 for them?  Thinking that week 6 is next week for them, with BattleStations happening then.
