WadesMom: When my son was held back, he called me a day before and told me there was a possibility. Then he did the "scripted" call the next morning, with Navy personnel present, and told me he was being asmoed for 2 weeks, and here is my new PIR date. I already had booked flights....sigh....but decided to leave them for the time being. Good thing I did...because he called me exactly one week later, was back in another PIR group/division (a week early) and gave me yet another PIR date. I would have had to pay the airline change fee....twice! Glad I waited.
Can you book on Southwest? There is no change fee with them, and 2 bags ship for free too. I would say since you have not heard from him again, all is normal. They have to call you to tell you if they are "asmoed." If you want, you can wait on the airline reservations through the weekend to see if he possibly gets to call home and explain, but if you have the Southwest option where you live, that may be the way to go. They fly into Chicago-Midway and Milwaukee (less traffic in Milwaukee and I understand car rental is cheaper).
Remember, they are threatened alot in bootcamp...to get them to "tow the line." He may have been in trouble, but rectified it or still is doing that. I would go on the NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS theory right now! Hang in there!
HELP!!!!!!
In my letter today my son told me he had gotten into some trouble and could possibly be held back 2 weeks. I was going to book our flights either tonight or tomorrow. He wrote this on July 14 & 15. If the RDC's had decided to hold him back, wouldnt I have gotten a call? Or will they just leave me hanging???
HELP I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!
Little White Lie
Some days are worse than others
This one has been very long
I’m really missing my sailor
People keep asking what is wrong
I’ve learned to say “allergies”
Because that they understand
It also explains the weepy eyes
And the tissue in my hand
But I’ve found a place where I can go
And let my tears flow free
Where I can find day or night
A thousand moms like me
So I lie when people ask because
When my day of work is done
I know I can share my feelings with
My wonderful Navy Moms
Hope everyone is having a good day...I got a letter yesterday he was much better in this letter made my day I'm still smiling today :)
Well phooey...my bad...I didn't see the "No Weather" sign on the WW last night so you can't go back and see how the rain and lightning looked.
phyllimac: Posted a comment on your page about your transportation issue.
Jmaries, there are a couple poems on one of the Facebook groups I am on. Maybe you can find it there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/
Purplegiraffe, that is such a great idea. I am going to look on ebay and try to fine the coins for the bases my Sailors have been at so far. I think that would be a great gift for them :-)
Oh my...it's raining and lightning in GL. I knew the Weather widget was interactive...and I have seen it snow in winter...but never lighting.
I know the WW is large but this is the smallest size for it to be so that it is interactive. Play around with it. The very top bar has the current date and time and then just below it the next four days...click the arrow and it will show more. Click the "LIVE" tab anytime to go back to current time.
The rest of the bar is for the marker (green) to move along throughout the day. You can click anywhere on it to change the time. So, if you don't see this until morning go back a day to about 12:30 AM and watch for awhile!
Hey...in the bottom left corner the number and the Olympic rings is a countdown for the London Olympics!
Wow...you can see the streaks and the whole screen lights up...
Sleep tight...to the Sailors and recruits at RTC...G'nite!
I can't post the links for Challenge Coins on the group...not allowed according to the guidelines (I know..we see them....but not everyone knows)...but you can friend me and I can send you a couple of links. Just let me know that that's what you are interested in when you send the request.
They have actually made one CC for the USS Triton at RTC... and hopefully more in the making. Craig on here did the write up for it and helped in the design.
An actual BC coin for a Sailors Ship at RTC is the only coin not gracing Sailors shadow boxes...so this will be great! The USS Triton on RTC is Ship 12.
