Got our call yesterday! (ship 09 div. 247)
So good to hear his voice! My heartbreaks for those of you who didn't get to hear from their RC. I was on the phone for about 30 seconds when the call was dropped. The 2 minutes it took for him to call back was excrutiating...He sounds so much better than in his letters, loves the work, getting easier, has lots of buddies, still homesick, but can see the end. Said they hit the half way mark on Monday? Still unclear as to the week and day of training, just knows that they are on schedule.
Moms ~ Thank you for your kind words and supports. I am feeling a little better today and I am not mad at the whole world anymore.
I keep telling myself that I have to be strong for my son and take comfort that he is doing well. There is only four weeks left, I can't wait.
Good Morning, ladies!
I know there are some of you already on a couple of facebook groups :-) And that is great. However, we want you to be sure and keep this page active as well. There are lots of people who do not "Do" Facebook and they will be here looking for others who have the same PIR and DIV. There are also those who come here to read your news and comments but they are too shy to post anything. But if you keep this page active they sometimes will get brave and start posting just like you. Sometimes having a family member join the Navy is not the only new experience for a lot of people. Many of them have never used a computer either :-) And I am sure they would like to get to know you as well.
Here are some of the more active facebook groups with members from all the PIR groups and DIV. Some are closed or private and some are not so you still have to be careful and not post your Sailors personal information.

You don't have to go to or join facebook. you will get all the info you need on this site and we are all here everyday to answer your questions but If you decide you want to start your own private facebook group or DIV group we suggest that one of you make it yourself that way you know who is in the group. There are lots of groups created by other people who may or may not even have a family member in the Navy and you just always need to be careful.
And please, no matter what come to this group page every day and post any news, comments or questions so everyone can benefit from it :-) Thanks!!!
Good morning all!
Justin's mom (ship9 div247) So sorry you missed your call. I know that must be devastating. Hopefully he will get a chance to try again.
Yes, I did get a call. Sorry for those that have not received theirs yet. My son is in Div 247 and says they are doing well and it is now getting a little easier. It was just great to hear his voice and encouraging that he is determined to finish strong.
I hope everyone else gets theirs soon!
Justin's mom, I AM SOOOO VERY SORRY!!! I can imagine how you feel. I pray your son is able to call again. I wish there was something we could say to help but I know there is not. Just know we are all here for you!!!!
Justin'sMom: So sorry about the missed call. If it was one for information, they usually aren't allowed to leave messages anyway. He should be able to call back for that. Those are supervised calls and very short.
Did others in the division get to call? If not, it sounds like it was an "info" call. Hoping that he calls back soon.
