Did anyone else see a link a few days ago that allowed us to order "Division" shirts?? I KNOW I saw it somewhere, but can't find it and I think I really want one!!!
Happy 4th Everyone!!! T
Today we are all feeling a wide range of emotions, most of all PRIDE! For our loved ones are now a part of what makes the day so special!!!
I know I will not ever look at it the same!!!!
((NOW LETS PRAY FOR PHONE CALLS))
Happy July 4th!
WadesMom & JakesMom, this website was a Godsend to me when my son was in BC. That was almost 2 years ago and I haven't been able to get away from here yet. :) We all do know exactly how you feel. As FTLW and diannep said, some people will say they understand because they had a child go off to college, but I've watched 3 of my children go off to college and when my son went off to BC, that was definitely the most difficult thing I had ever had to go through. ((Hugs)) to you! Keep checking in on here, because this group will be your lifeline and just think at PIR, you will be able to meet some of the other incredible ladies in your group. Those cyber ((hugs)) can be real one's, at least for that weekend. :)
JakesMom, as horrible as it sounds it is good to know Im not alone in feeling so blue! I dont wish the same feelings on anyone, but at the same time, it really stinks to feel like no one understands! I know my loved ones are getting sick of hearing me talk about my son all the time, but I simply cant help it!
To EVERYONE else! You are all SOOOO Incredible!! It does mean so much to receive the ((HUGS)) We get from you all! It brings smiles to our faces and makes it all a little bit better!!
MUCH APPRECIATED LADIES!!!!!
I echo the sentiments here...and it doesn't really change as their career goes along.
Folks are supportive and negative at the same time...without meaning to be for the most part...(some folk are intentionally mean :-()
I had one lady encourage me to go on an Israel trip with our Church and one comment was ,"You should go...(Hubby) went out of country...now it's your turn!"
I "get" how she meant it but it is really hard to not retort,"Yea...but the difference is...that he wasn't on vacation!" Six months on an Air Base in Iraq without ever stepping off of it fo the whole time, twelve hour watches (He was also Flight Chief), daily mortar attacks or gunfire, butthead personnel...yeah, a little different.
But I know her intent was not to be harmful (she's a real nice lady!)...so I just let that one go.
Hubby also mentioned before he left, that for us...it would drag (and it did) but for everyone else it would feel like a couple of weeks. So true too.
This site was a Godsend while he was gone as our son enlisted during that time as well.
JakesMom: You are totally correct. Others who are not part of a military family don't "get it." But they try! Many times, they do compare bootcamp to going off to college. Although the empty rooms at home are the same in both cases, those in college will be home for holidays, maybe some weekends...and they are just a phone call/email/text away! Not so in bootcamp...and there are no guarantees when they will be home again. The Navy comes FIRST!
So, we are blessed to have this site so everyone can connect with others having the same feelings, trials, frustrations, victories, and happy phone calls/letters!
@Wadesmom (*hugs to you*) I am relieved to read what you said, because that has been my day today. Thank you Betsy, Lala, dianne, Ellen, for replying, what you wrote. It helps so much. I have no family support (4 sisters) & I start to feel depressed and sad and wonder..why can't i just get one of them to call, to see how it's going or just to let me vent to them. I now realize (from talking with someone today) they probably don't understand, because they can look at it, as if it's not that different, then going off to college or moving far away. So again, thanks moms and I will be looking for some news about your call or letters too, for you Wadesmom. I will hang in there, and you will too.
