Stressing:::: I am reading that there are some sailors leaving early Sunday morning rather than early Saturday morning. Does anyone know if this is the case for all of the graduating sailors. I know it probably depends on a lot of different things. My son is div 244 and going to Pensacola. Are there others going to Pensacola and leaving early sunday morning? Like everyone else, trying to get the last minute plans made.(2 memorial services, trying to help schedule around)
Ok, hoping for calls today from 247/248! Maybe 949 too? I thought they went Monday night, but haven't seen any posts about calls. So maybe they went through last night. Anyone know?
Post when you hear from your new sailors!
SueCasa: FTLW's son is in the Reserves....PIRed a little over a year ago. She would have info for you on this.
Good morning all!
SueCasa, your son won't be able to wear civies until he phases up to phase II at A School, it usually takes a about three weeks for that to happen. We took a pair of jeans and a couple of t-shirts for my son, that's really all he needed for a while. If you do take t-shirts, and they are white or blue they must have something printed on them, there can be no mistake that they are outerwear not underwear.
I would doubt that your son will be able to leave base for the week he is waiting to be sent to school. He can have his cell phone once he is no longer on the RTC side of the base, I would take it, he will know when he can have it.
I could be wrong on some of this though as I don't know much about the reserve side of things.
I am new here and wish I found all of you in June! I keep missing my sailor's phone calls as he calls at strange times--like when I'm driving and the cell phone is in my purse so haven't been able to ask him questions! I can't wait to see him on Friday! He mentioned in his last message that he might not be going to A School right away-may have a week before he ships out to Florida. My husband said our new sailor should get his orders this week so we'll know more. Does anyone have ideas on if he'll come home or will need to stay at Great Lakes until he ships out?
We are flying into Midway Thursday afternoon and fly out Saturday evening. I have some shorts, undies, and t-shirts to take for lounging around the room. Should I be bringing civilian clothes for when he ships out, his cell phone, etc.? I'm clueless as to what he can have and what I need to bring.
There is a lot of great information on this site and I've already learned a lot! My sailor's name is Andrew, he enlisted in the Reserves, will be returning to college after A School, and should be based in Ventura. He said his bunkmate will be there also. Anyone else with a sailor from Southern California?
Only a few more days!
I am just sooooo stinking happy for all of us!!!! I could not be more proud!!! Praying for our remaining SR!
YESSSS I have A US NAVY SAILOR!!!!!
Those waiting for phone calls....check your new sailor's FB if you can. Some purchase computer time while waiting for the phones!
Anyone heard from 939? Since 245 went, we know that 246 went also. Congrats to the news sailors!
Congratulation to new SAILORS, we will meet at PIR 8/10.
I have a SAILOR! DIV 245 has passed Battle Station
