But as you can see 247's MPO is already trained and so they should be receiving mail soon!
OUCH, that didnt come out right!!! The comment "A REAL CONCERN", No concern of ours is small, I just meant its a MAJOR one to me.. didnt mean to sound rude.. SORRY
So, I am thinking that this coming Sunday will be the first day for them to write.
I have a real concern, I wonder what percentage of SR are held back from their PIR's for what ever reason? I am so afraid of booking a flight too soon, yet I'm equally as scared to wait til the last min to book it as well.. What should I do??? If my son's PIR is set back for what ever reason, I'm afraid I couldn't afford the transfer, and the transferable flights are almost triple in price!!!
It would be the second Sunday after the whole Division is formed.
Not diannep...but I am sure that they are granted their first writing privileges together as far as a Division as a whole...writing time is usually designated...from what I know...but diannep will certainly have some even better input.
It doesn't matter "when" they arrive really once they are in their Division;TG;PIR date. Recruits can arrive on the same day to RTC and even be in completely different PIR dates. It's just about the filling of the Ships...performing Divisions and if there ae SPECOPS...so arrival and then "filling" can then be a bit random.
Say a Division doesn't have enough recruits to "fill" it from those days arrivals...it will wait for the next batch to complete it.
rpgolfmom: Just saw your post where your SR said he could distribute the first mail today or tomorrow. YAH! How long has he been up there? I'm wondering if this is before the 2 week mark? He may have been a "quick learner" and therefore mail delivery can start early. Let's hope!
I do believe that brother divisions are housed in the same ship...but hmmm....not sure? My son's were.
megan> Receiving/writing their first letters is based on the training of the Recruit Mail Petty Officer in each division. That person must be trained before mail delivery starts. So it is a division "thing." Once they get their first mail (usually on a Sunday after being there two weeks), they will get regular mail delivery M-F from then on. They may only be allowed to write once a week for a while, but more often as bootcamp moves along.
JakesMom: Look up above towards the top of the page. See the rectangle that says "Meet and Greets?" Click on the info line below it. Explains the MeetandGreets and introduces you to SARGE. He has a MeetandGreet and also has a transportation service for sailors/families in the GL area. He is retired military and full of info!
For anyone needing his transportation services (good rates!), here is his number. Call or text him:
