I booked a suite at the Navy Lodge. I just figured they would have so much information and it was close and other veteran mom's have highly recommended staying there. It's only 1.5 miles from the RTC and my husband is great at getting us around to places, so I feel confident in my choice. I doubt my son will want to do much sightseeing or running around..maybe to look for a good Chinese restaurant or good steak. And they have a really nice big lobby for visiting
mona13: Check out Residence Inn Waukegan. With 3 females, you all could get a 2 bdrm 2 bth unit...full kitchens...1 queen bed in each bedroom, sofabed in living room. I don't know if you all can fit in one of their studios, but they are cheaper. Ask for the Navy Grad discount. They also have the AAA discount. We stayed there and liked it. SARGE's MeetNGreet is nearby (night before PIR)...they have PIR shuttle, free internet in room, pet friendly, free hot buffet breakfast each morning (earlier on PIR day), pool, fitness room, about 4-5 miles from the base.
rpgolfmom: That is the way to do it. Through the SRs.
nuclearpoweredmom: The moms really can't do it. You can mention it to your SR and your SR can find out if other SRs in the division will offer their unused spaces. In that case, your guests will need the full name of that sailor since their names will be on that list.
Just remember, ladies. The extras WILL get in regardless of being on a list...with proper ID. The worst that can happen is that they may have to wait a few minutes in the Visitors Center. But they will get in. There was a PIR that had 14 divisions (very large) and even those guests got in. We don't know how many divisions are in this group yet, but there shouldn't be a problem with extras getting in.
Plus, remember...if any of the guests in your group are 12 yrs old or younger, they are not included in the 4 guests on the list...they automatically get in without being on the list. The SRs are given a chance to update these lists 1-2 weeks before PIR.
Hi ladies, we have two extra people that we would like to "guarantee" entry into PIR. They will travel with us either way, but if anyone could help us out if you have an empty space on your guest list, that would be awesome! Please contact me if you're able and willing to help.
Ok, Jakes Mom, I am SOOOO totally confused!!! What day are the SR on today? How did you find the "start day" or have I just not looked and read closely enough? I would love to keep up with the day to day like you are, but have somehow flunked out on this part, LOL
The form letter went to my son's gf. She mailed me a copy of it but i can't make out the places to stay. Any suggestions? Probably 3 adult females.....not sure about ex! Would like comfort, shuttle, free wifi.....fridge would be nice, 3-4 nights. Reasonable rate
Yep! That is one of Craig's blogs and very thorough (he is a retired sailor with a nephew/son in and a daughter in the Air Force). He has great info. So glad that you found that!
thanks Dianne, I just like to check out what he is doing day to day. I was given this link >http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433 and I check it periodically to see what they are up to on each day. For example, if he started his BC training day last thursday, I can look on this forum ^^ and today would be their 3rd day of training for bootcamp (not processing) & I can see today (1-3 day) is the day they get their peanut butter shot, x rays, dental again...etc.. because saturday and sunday were not counted as training days. that's all..it's like I am following his itinerary. strange huh? :- )
Welcome, momma2many! So glad to have you back here! Being a N4Moms veteran now, you should have lots of info for the ladies on here!
