Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Our first call since the "I'm here call" on July 3rd. He said he is doing good & the div is working together better! :) It was great cuz me, my husband & both my daughters were there to talk to him! & I didnt cry while talking to him.

Comment by diannep on August 3, 2012 at 10:07am: SeasideMom: If possible, try to book your flight back on Monday. Yes, it is always possible that they will get some of the holiday weekend there. Depends on flight availability/room in A School. To be safe, if you can book back Monday, or later Sunday night, you should be safe. If your new sailor happens to leave on Sat, then you can sightsee (what we did).

The New USS John F. Kennedy Ship 9 challenge coin was released today and USS Triton Ship 12.

The history about the overpass is really interesting. I found it here while seaching for information. It's under USS Triton, because the Navy man is still writing about the USS Kennedy. I can't wait for the story about the Kennedy.
