Mrs SeniorChief - Had my other son left I would not get a letter either. I know how you feel. I will share as much as I can to help you through but you probably have a letter out there. I was loosing hope too. What ship/division is your son? Maybe we can spread the word that there are mom's waiting. My aunt teased my son before he left that she was going to give him pre-addressed, stamped post cards that say, I am fine mom, or Still here mom, that he could drop in the mailbox without even having to lift a finger. She may be on to something there.
Yay for 818's phone calls and letters today!!!
I didnt get a letter last week or a phone call this week!!!! :( hoping to get either or both tomorrow? I know a crap load of people in 273/274 are recieving letters so I guess Im just an unlucky one. feeling pretty crappy right now!!
Some SRs got 2 minute calls, but some got 30 minutes! Very nice. I know those in 818 didn't get a letter last week, so the longer call definitely should make up for it. :-)
Good to hear your son is in good spirits and doing well Raca28. I have this sinking fear that since my son is not the letter writer that I will either not get a letter or a letter with one line that says..."I'm fine mother, quit worrying." He was always saying that to me. :)
I received my letters today ladies. Ship 9, DIV 274 YEAH! 2 of them. The first one 3 pages. He said the first day was tough with little sleep and non-stop yelling. He said it only improved slightly following that and the yelling continued. He said everything was wrong and no one could do anything right although he knows thats how it was supposed to be. He said they have been told that part of bootcamp is learning to pay attention to detail and that his past cleanroom experience and analytical personality serve him well. Things are getting better though and he passes inspections almost perfectly each time. He said he is a stick (flag bearer) and does well at marching with his marching band background. (He said his first RDC his huge on marching) He said he can write letters every day but Sunday and to keep writing. The second letter I got my birthday wishes (tearing up here) He said his inspection went well, only found a piece of lint under his rack and a loose thread on his rear end pocket. He said his six hours of Holiday Routine was over and he had to go (on Sunday 7-22) I am happy to say he sounds good. He and his bunk mate were laughing at a picture his younger brother sent him but he did not give any names. At least they seem to get along well.
I feel much better now. I know he is doing well and seems to be in good spirits. Those of you still watiing for letters - yours in on the way. They will get their soon. They are worth the wait.
Thanks for the training week/day, Jodi. I have written it on my calendar. Will help me with projecting their BattleStations date.
I got a letter today and right after we finished reading it, the phone rang. It said pay phone and the area code for GL. I could hardly answer the phone (still choked up after reading the letter) but it sure was great to hear his voice. Hope everyone gets both letters and calls soon.
Amen to the calls to come! Mrs.SeniorChief...No letters from 276 (at least not from mine) although I did hear from one Mom who received one today...so they're on their way!
