I'm sure with all the great minds on this board someone has already tossed this out there...I have been printing off various sporting stats for my son. This I thought would keep him connected to the outside world a bit. So, if your SR likes sports, you might print something off they would enjoy reading and share with others.
Another thing, I occasionally pull up google earth and look at RTC, it's not live or anything, but it gives one an idea of where they are.
CookieGVB - It was unreal...never seen it do that before. I was seeing flashes while I was posting and wondering what it was (was IE going nuts on me?! ) and it was the WW!
It was going "like 60" wasn't it?!
Wow...I bet they were...scary!
So glad it is over! The Group PIRing tomorrow didn't get their "I'm a Sailor" calls right away...it was because of the weather...no way they were going to march them all the way across the base (it's a walk) in that!
Got my first letter today! I am really happy he seems to be in good spirits. He said he is ready to see the civilian world again. He is the laundry PO and he has met some really cool guy's. He said the foods ok but not as good as momma's. (; The letter makes me feel better and more excited about PIR. Now to look forward to the next one.
I know sweetie...we're here for you!
I was looking at the Weather thing last night, too - it was pretty cool how they were showing the rain & lightning. There was a storm late afternoon in NYC - and that constant lightning thing was actually happening here. People were freaking out, and we're in a 50-story building.
Thank FTLW & momplus2! I dont work tomorrow so I am going to pursue some of the options you have suggested. I'm sure I probably wont get anywhere. & I know it will probably be another week or so until I get a personal letter from my SR. It is just very disheartening to have the process of step from MEPS to PIR disrupted :(. It was kinda how I was dealing & getting thru BC, LOL.
Well....no letter today. In 2006 we got mail regularly on Thursday after the first form letter came, so we were expecting something. Oh well, maybe tomorrow or Saturday.
Thank you momplus!
If it was for the PAO Public Affairs Office...they may confirm his "status" and that might give you his Ship/Div...but they can't send you another Form Letter...the SR is reponsible for it...just an FYI. :-)
I am hoping that it was just an error on the envelope...heck...we all know how sometimes folks ask us our phone numbers and we don't "know" them...so trying to remember our address after a week of P days could be rough. I remember another where she forgot the stamp!
"lightning"
nursecat...I sent you an email giving you a direct phone number to Great Lakes. I also spoke to our post office...everyone know everyone...also a small town. The post office said if their was a route number, apartment number or unite number that your son forgot to write...it will get returned. You can call the Great Lakes number is emailed you yesterday and ask them if it came back. Know that I am praying that the letter comes soon. As another mother said, "it can take up to 3 weeks"....Hang in there...keep me posted. think positive:)
