kbreanne's husband is in 271

Comment by CookieGVB on July 13, 2012 at 11:39am

So would that mean divisions before him would probably be on 1-2 or 1-3?

Comment by diannep on July 13, 2012 at 11:18am

kbreanne:  Is his division 274?  I'm keeping track of training days for the groups when you all post them so I can try and determine BattleStations dates.  Thanks!

Wendymom:  My son was allowed to call 3 days after he arrived when at bootcamp....if your SR was calling for "info" (supervised call), they usually can't leave a message.  Hoping that he gets to call back soon!  I know it breaks your heart to have missed the call, but it happens.  Even with phones glued to our sides sometimes!

Comment by diannep on July 13, 2012 at 10:50am

MrsSeniorChief:  They usually don't get to write for the first 2 weeks of bootcamp while they train the Recruit Mail Petty Officers.  Normally, they are first allowed to write on a Sunday...and that is the first day they receive this "held" mail.  Then they have regular mail delivery after that M-F.

When they first start writing, it is usually on Sundays and they are only allowed to mail out once a week at first (Mondays).  As bootcamp goes on, they usually can start mailing out more than once a week, although when my son was there back in 2009, his 5 letters always arrived on Thursdays.

The form letter can take up to 2 weeks, sometimes longer, to arrive.  So you still have time!

I am curious to know what the postmark date is on the form letter. My son arrived 7/3 in Ship 9 Div 275 and as of yesterday nothing from him. When my older son went off to boot camp in July of 2006, we normally got a letter every Thursday. So, I expected to have something yesterday. Maybe we will get something today. If it didn't go out until Tuesdays mail..Friday would be about right for mail delivery from Illinois to Texas. I guess I will just have to wait...patience is not one of my virtues!!

That sounds exactly right ellen :-) At least that is the way I understand it as well.

Cookie:  There is a restaurant in Libertyville where your sailor can eat free--even steak!....friends of Sarge's (he has one of the Meetand Greets and has a great transportation service for those who need it  847-212-0246).

Good morning all!

This is a large PIR group.  I see you all have 12 divisions!  But don't worry...your "extras" at PIR should still be able to get in.  Just means more excitement in the PIR Hall!

My understanding is, processing won't start until divisions are "full", if it is an integrated division there could be enough males and not enough females or visa versa. This is one reason actual training days can vary from one set of brother divisions to another. While in P-Hold they still have PT and do study the Navy manual, they just don't start the actual training weeks.

The delay in starting training can also delay your receiving the form letter, but not the box as the first part of processing starts as soon as they arrive, handing out Navy gear, sending home the personal items they arrived with etc.

My son is in Ship 12 Div 270. PIR date is 8/31.
