Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by GANukeMom(EM mom) on July 12, 2012 at 11:11pm: kbreanne0602, my son's letter said the same thing. It was dated 7/9 and he said that he was in P-1. I'm going to call his recruiter tomorrow and find out what has been going on. I was hoping the worst was over for them by now and they were getting on a schedule and doing actual boot camp stuff. I'll let you know what I find out.

Comment by CookieGVB on July 12, 2012 at 5:34pm: I was looking at Homewood Suites a little further away (I forgot the town, but it was on that brochure someone posted) - they had a Navy grad rate of $89 a night, and there are probably going to be 3 of us in the room, so I wanted the extra space for less money. Anyone ever stay there?

Comment by diannep on July 12, 2012 at 4:24pm: nursecat: Yes, he is referring to the form letter. There is no "welcome package" persay. But the form letter has some info about graduation included in the envelope and form letter.

Just a heads up....sometimes the recruiter's info is not quite exact! Depends on the recruiter and the knowledge that particular one has.

As far as Red Carpet Inn instead of Navy Lodge....we have had great reports on Navy Lodge. I would say try that one over Red Carpet. Thinking that Navy Lodge is about $65/night and you can request the one with the kitchenette if available. Lala, ellen, and FTLW stayed there so have more info.
