As far as sending contacts and make-up this late they may or may not get it. There is no true over night deliver with the Post Office. Express is the fasted delivery they have and it is around $20.00 for the flat rate envelope. Just make sure you check the box for waiving the signature because your recruit will not be able to sign for it. Priority mail is 2-3 days depending on how far away you are and the small flat rate box cost about $6.00 with delivery conformation. UPS or Fed-Ex can get it there overnight for between $30 and $35 but I am not sure they can deliver to recruit/Sailors on the bootcamp base. And no matter how you send it you still have to wait on their mail system to get it to your Sailor. It may work and get there, who knows lol :-)

sgraham, I am so sorry she was injured and will not be able to have PIR on Friday. Like Diannep said if they only have that final PFA and Battle Station left then once she heals she will do her final PFA and then go to battle stations with the next division going through. She will them leave that weekend and head straight to A-school. It is so hard for the families who want to see the ceremony but for the Sailors they are usually just so ready to get out of there that they prefer to just go on to A-school. It will only take a week or two in A-school for her to class up and be allowed to have visitors and be allowed off base during the day. Maybe your family can all plan to make a trip there instead.I really do hate that you all are going through this. i will keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Dianne, wishful thinking.

Prayers for those who may be in the "line of fire" for Isaac's landfall.  The storm passed near us yesterday, but oddly, we have had flooding rain and wind today!  Some areas have received 14 inches today....it is a very wet storm.

Prayers!

No, julielind.  They usually can't have leave until after A School.

sgraham:  Actually, once she passes the PFA, she will then do BattleStations (after which she is a sailor!!!), and then will ship to A School.  Doesn't sound like she will have PIR.  You may want to join the FIT PROGRAM group on here---that is the group she will be training with when medically cleared.  The ladies on there can explain it better to you.  If they were still allowing her to try her run now before PIR, she would have a chance to pass and be there for PIR.  But there is danger in that with a stress fracture as it can go into a much more serious fracture.

Here is the link to the FIT group:

I still would call the Public Affairs Office tomorrow and see if you get info from them.  Hang in there....I'm wondering if you would be able to see her on Friday for a couple of hours if you went?  Usually when families are notified during PIR week that their SR may not graduate that week, they will allow a 2 hour visit between SRs and families on PIR Day.  Are you flying or driving?  You may ask the PAO tomorrow if you can see her for a couple of hours on Friday because your plans are already in place to go up.

dainnep - thank you for the info thus far. you are right that she has done everything put her PFA. they do have her somewhere where she is supposed to heal. She states that they told her she would not have a PIR but when done healing she would take her PFA and then move on to A school with no PIR. i am terribly disappointed for both her and those of us that were looking forward to watching her graduate. is this possible that she would not have a PIR?
