N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good News,  A letter from my son just now in the mailbox . Ship 13 div 333. I sent my letters out early with the address the recruiter gave me before I got the official letter. I am out the door to work and haven't opened it yet but it came in the self address stamped envelope that I have been putting in every envelope  and it feels thicker than 1 page so I think it's the 2 page questionnaire that I sent him that I got on this website and sent him. I will let  you all know as soon as I get to work and and be by myself for a moment and news on how it's going inside the " camp" . I can't believe I came back in my house to write you guys, I do take my iPad and iphone to work but I am so excited and know that yours will be out soon.  Sending the self addressed stamped envelope helped I think. They are short on time. So every few letters, I am including one.

MontanaMom, If your son said the 19th was week 1 day 1 this is how it would be counted. Sat and Sun are not counted as training days.

Friday the 19th- week 1 day one

Saturday the 20th- week 1 hold 1

Sunday the 21st- week 1 hold 2

Monday the 22nd - week 1 day 2

Tuesday the 23rd - week 1 day 3

Wednesday the 24th - week 1 day 4

Thursday the 25th - week 1 day 5

Friday the 26th - week 2 day 1

Hey is there any more Montana Mom/Dads on here.  I met the young man that shipped out on the 3rd with my son and I was curious if his parents are on this sight. He was a very nice young man and enjoyed visiting with him at MEPS.

Sharla-My son dated his letter the 19th and said that was 1:1 so if I got this figured correctly today would be 1:6, but not sure I'm so knew to this stuff, I was going to print the day by day of boot camp off while I was at work but dang a work phone call came in and I got distracted.  Will do tomorrow.  I almost cried when I read you had a melt down last night.  It's okay to cry someone told me when I started to cry one day that it was just proof of how much we Love them! I've tried to be strong and not cry, but sometimes the tears flow on there own accord.

I too really appreciate ALL our service men and women.

Erica: I hope you received a letter too. Keep us posted!

My son is Ship 3 Div 338, I got a personal letter, yea!! He wrote 4 pages.  I thought he would only write a paragraph or two.  He sounded so grown up.  A lot of information in it.  My husband almost tackled the mail lady for our mail, which came at almost 5:30 pm.

Got my SR letter today!!! It took 3days to get here (MN)
Comment by diannep on July 24, 2013 at 5:07pm

NavyDad:  The most important part of that form letter is the password she wrote in which will enable you to download the PIR gate pass shortly before PIR.  So if the letter doesn't arrive, be sure to ask her for that password.
