Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lynn, They do have to stay in uniform all weekend street clothes are not an option. They can't wear civies until they phase up in school.

We will other plans just incase. Here's a question, I know they have to be in uniform all weekend, how about your SR wear street clothes?

My son was in GL last year when the G8 summit was to have been in Chicago, both the TSC and the RTC received a "no travel to Chicago proper" that week. It was lifted when the Summit was moved, but be prepared with an alternate weekend plan ladies and gentlemen.

Like diannep said they are fine in the GL area, Chicago proper may not be an option,

Good Morning!  Just a heads up from a lady's post on the 09/13 group:

She spoke to her brother who lives in Chicago...they are expecting anti-war protests with things "heating up" in Syria....and Navy warships in place.  He is saying that military need to be attuned to this and may want to avoid Chicago if these protests materialize.  I will say that RTC is on top of issues like this and may issue a warning (or prohibitive order) for the sailors to stay out of Chicago after PIR if they feel they would be in any danger.  They have issued this order before when there was a tense situation in Chicago.

Since Syria would be a "Navy" war, persay, with destroyers already nearby, it could be that our sailors would be targeted (and of course they would be in uniform so easy to spot).  Not saying this to freak anyone out....they are fine in the GL area....Chicago may be a little more risky.

Keep tuned into the RTC page.  I'm sure they would post something there if need be and would also tell the sailors/possibly announce at PIR.  Sometimes they want the sailors to stay out of Chicago when they are expecting huge crowds there for any situation...just for a time element thing...could cause them to be late getting back to GL for curfew.

Captains Cup in the morning for this group!  Lots of friendly athletic competition between the divisions in this PIR group.  FUN for them!

Congrats to the new sailors of 335-338!
