Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

that is what i thought too, however if you page through a few it does list one for 9/6/2013. sounds like a wonderful event, and what a great way to welcome us and provide information for the weekend events. I look forward to it, after months of the unknowns :)

But I think they let him because of it being his birthday. So I think our division must be doing well. He sounded great. Have had a smile on my face all morning :-) Blessings to you all!

I've read so many different things. I'll just hope for some extra time the weekend of graduation and write the week off. I'll save the days/expense for later in A-school. I've read things get less strict after the first few weeks (phase 1). The most frustrating thing is that nothing is for certain and experiences are all over the map. I guess I should go ahead and start getting use to it.

thank you for the infomation, I was looking at renting a house, however, it is about a 30 plus minute drive each way, this for sure makes a difference in doing that or a hotel that is closer to the Naval Base.

glad to connect with someone in her ship/div :) I agree, there are many sons, and not many girls that left with her on July 9th, happy to see she has another girl in her group.
