~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Wyattsmom: I asked this same question and diannep posted the info for me. I think it was yesterday. I am glad your son isn't sick. My son sounded like he was. They are same ship & div. Good luck.

I have started looking into hotels in the area and am not sure if there is a special rate for PIR parents, or if it is just the rates they have posted.  Suggestions?  Ideas?  The rates I saw yesterday seem considerably higher than what I have seen posted throughout this site.

My SR called his dad yesterday, said he would call me next time.  Not too happy about that, but also understand they are limited in their calling.  He sounded great, fortunately didn't seem to have the cold that some of his other shipmates have.  Ship 14 Div 336  Looking forward to his next call, whenever that may be!

NavyGirlsMom:  She has a supply card issued to her when she arrived there.  She can buy those things with that....or....you are welcome to mail her stamps and phone cards as many do on here!

And....you are very welcome!  We love helping you all!

Diannep and Lala ribbon queen, thank you for your encouraging words. I will definitely be doing the bra thing from now on. Today I'm feeling much better and I'm sure she is too. I ditto Jae's comments, it is nice to hear about the others calls. I've read a couple comments about SR's requesting stamps and phone cards. If my daughter has her debit card can she buy those things there or is it better if I send some to her?

It depends on how well they do. My son told me the same thing but if they aren't working as a team that privilege could be revoked. Just be prepared. Anything above and beyoud the initial I'm here and I'm a Sailor are a blessing.

does anyone know where or if there are pics posted of our loved ones in basic, as I would like to just see pic of my boy.

I missed my sons call as well, my phone did not ring. I will be watching my phone none stop on sat's. Lucky my boy called his dad and step mom. so I was able to call them. my ex said its a good thing you did not talk to him cause I would of been crying more, which is true. My boy is doing good. staying strong, just a little home sick but that's to be expected. needing stamps an phone cards. Was so glad to hear he got letters. I can not wait to give him a big hug.I am so proud of him and every man and women who serve.

It seems like Sat mornings are days we have our phones charged and ready. Hopefully, Oregon Mom we will hear good news next week that you were able to talk and I know you will tell him about the vibrating phone in the bra  LOL
