OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lucy2013, glad to hear that he got ahold of someone! My son is a little older too, he is almost 21. He told his gf that as long as they don't lose te privilege they will get to call again next weekend and he told her to tell me that he would call me. So, we'll see... Btw my name is Luci too!

LaLa- I remember you from a couple of years ago when my daughter went into the Navy. You made those awesome ribbons for our group of moms who wanted them.  I'm glad to hear from you again.  You were one of the mom's who really helped us through the rough spots.  Welcome.

VeteranSailorMom, My son called his finance. I would have got a call too, but he called her 3 times before she answered, so I missed out. Said he's ok. He's 23, so older than most in his Div.

So sorry it took me so long to join you all. I wasn't paying attention to the new group invite lol.

Hi everyone I am one of the volunteers here to help you through this experience :)  I hope you all are having a good weekend. I know how hard this is for so many of you. And as hard as it is to believe the boot camp time will pass pretty quickly. I was a mess when my daughter was there. I didn’t have much time to prepare as she was only in DEP one month and then she was gone. I was and am a worrier lol so I was always wondering what she was doing and how she was. But it all turned out great and it is so hard for me to believe it has been more than three years. Now she is a Sailor and is married to a Sailor and they are expecting their first baby and my first grand baby :) She is due anytime now and I am packed and ready to head to VA as soon as she calls :) After three years I am still here helping others get through this experience and I love it. If you have any questions or concerns please just let us know and feel free to send me a friend request if you like. I am happy to help in any way I can.

I always say the days drag by but the weeks pass quickly so, try to find something fun to do and stay busy. If you have little ones at home there are several things you can do to make this journey a little easier for the, Make a paper chain with a link for each day they have left in boot camp and let them remove one link each day. It will help them see that this is only temporary. Other have also put a quarter in a jar for every day left and each week allowed the child/children to use the money for an ice-cream cone or even for a special card to send to their recruit, gumballs or gummy bears in a jar work well too and they get a tiny little treat each day. So many things can make it a better experience for them.  Welcome to your PIR group, we are happy to have you here :)

cdhall, The division number is more important than the ship# (although both help), so if that's there and correct you should be all good. :)

Thanks JLM. I was worried that it might be something like that. I wonder if it's more difficult for this division? Someone posted on one of the pages that it's a male/female division. It is entirely possible that he was having problems with the calling cards. I will just look forward to letters for now. Thanks again for the update.

cdhall SR on Ship 14 Division 335. PIR 9/6/13. I just realized I put ship 4 on the letter I sent to my SR instead 14. Do you think he will get it? I did have everything else correct....Anyone know?

My daughter called this morning, it made my day! It was so good to hear her voice! She yelled out Mami, It scared me, I thought something happened but I know my baby's a momma's girl no matter how tough she thinks she is. She said she promised herself she wouldn't cry but couldn't help it. I made her laugh & we got to talk, she said times flying, it's not too bad, got strep throat. It felt really rushed but she sounds happy & determined. Can't wait for my next call!

Has anyone received calls today from Ship 12 Div 332? I had my phone on me all day and haven't heard from my son>>>>>>>

Yes, I did receive a call from my son who is on Ship 12 Div 332 this morning.  Maybe your son was on watch and missed his turn or had trouble with the phone The connection was really bad and we had to ask our son to repeat a lot.  He also stopped the call to help another guy figure out how to use the phone card so maybe your SR had similar trouble?   Our SR said the DIV is not shaping up quickly and he doubts there will be any special calls until they do....next call is in about 2 more weeks.  Sorry if yours didn't get a chance to call.....  maybe tomorrow?  I do hope so.
