~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Donna: our daughter was originally shipping from Boise till she moved to seattle with us last year. She still knows all the Boise shippers, may ours know each other!

My son put a quick "I love you mom" on the inside of the envelope that the form letter was sent in. His best friend left 4 weeks before him and she put a note to mom in her phone case. It's touching how these kids sneak notes back home just to make sure moms know they are ok. Makes a momma proud :)

Oregon Mom: I got hers 2 days ago.  I have been sending them to the address for ship 14 that is on the bootcamp.navy.mil website which her recruiter also confirmed.  The letter she sent was the same ship/div but the street address was different.  I haven't got the form letter yet but I think what I've been sending to is right, we'll see!

diannep: I sure hope shes right but no phone call yet tonight and its when she thought she would.  Ow well.  Hope we get one soon!  Im happy enough just to get a letter knowing shes ok.

JLM, the coins on the site diannep mentioned are nice.  I ordered one for my daughters ship and it should up today.  Very nice quality at a good price!

Is anyone else from Oregon or Idaho?

JLM:  Some like to order the challenge coin for their SR's ship name.  Here is the website if you are interested:  www.pirgifts.com

Wow, PrdNavyMom, that was a bonus!  Usually they are having so many things yelled at them, that they throw things in the box that they could have kept (like wallets), and they can hardly think!  For you to get a note....great!  Some actually manage to write something on the flaps of the boxes, so everyone be sure to check those.  Just know that they are really "under pressure" during the time they are packing those boxes....some may be afraid to scribble something in a note/flaps because "they weren't told to!"

NavyDad:  Please post if you hear from your SR!  For them to stick to a phone schedule would be a miracle.  They can lose calls (as individuals or as a division), earn calls,  get an unexpected call, run out of time for all to call, some may be on watch and miss the call, etc.  So keep the phone close....just in case she calls on another day!  :-)

NavyDad206: my SR is also Ship 14 Div 336. I received a letter from him yesterday & the form letter today. Did you send any letters to the incorrect address like I did? We will be making travel plans on Monday. Four of us will be flying to graduation. Haven't decided where to stay yet.

Is anyone thinking about gifts for the PIR?  I'm not sure if I want to get one or if I should get one and then the third question is, what kind of gift?

Thoughts?

Lucy2013- I got a note from my son, it was folded up in the packet of his jeans, it said, he will be fine. Short and sweet, I was very happy to see it.
