OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi - received the form letter today...my son is Ship 3 Div 338 - he arrived on 7/9 from TX.  The letter did not have the password listed- the line was blank.  Will they be sending something later on with the password?  Thanks!

To SuothernCalimom Ship 13 Div 333.......How the Navy decides who goes where is probably best left to them, right?<G>  My SR turned 24 while he was at RTC but I think he kept that  a secret.  Great that you will be at the Residence Inn too.....we'll have to get together.

And to Ship 12, DIV 332----wonderful to hear from you!

JaniceLM, my son is also Ship 12 Div 332. I haven't booked a room yet because I just got the letter today with the info and I have to connect with the others on his access list to confer about hotels. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone in our TG.

I'm glad you got the call. Your son came in with mine, Jamice. My son is 21 and yours? I'm going to be at the residence Inn also.
