For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by JLM-MN on July 18, 2013 at 9:25pm: Booked our room at the Residence Inn and am looking into flights into Midway. SR's box arrived 4 days after he left on 7/08/13. Received the form letter yesterday and letters back are on the way! The best news was our SR called today. My husband works at home and took the call. First thing my husband said to me when he called me is ----there is nothing wrong and he (the SR) is ok, Whew. Turns out his rating requires more clearance so he needed his passport and another reference. Most of all my husband said he sounded "mature"---in two weeks?! <G> Of course he is older and everyone warned him that the tweenies <G> would drive him bats, so maybe he is coping by being super cool. Who knows, but how great to hear his voice. He told his dad that RTC was not as bad as he was anticipating....maybe it gets more intense later, huh? Nice to know that he is OK and doing fine. So...any other moms whose SR is on Ship 12, Div 332?

I have another question if anyone can help....I am in the process of booking the hotel at the Navy Lodge and I thought I read to use you SR's name is this true?

Comment by diannep on July 18, 2013 at 8:37pm: Colleen: In each PIR group, unfortunately people have to make these choices about what guests will not be able to attend the PIR service. Would either of the step parents be willing to stay behind with the kids? They can watch the ceremony on the computer as it will be livestreamed.

Comment by diannep on July 18, 2013 at 8:34pm: They will update these guest lists a week or so before PIR and will put in actual names then, so no worries!

Tammy: Your recruiter has "old info." They no longer can put extra guests on another sailor's guest list. They only can use their own spaces (still remains to be seen how many will be allowed per sailor until RTC posts this group on their site...number of guests is based on number of divisions in the group). No "extras" will be allowed on base. They must remain off base and they can watch the "livestreaming" of the PIR service on their computers.
