~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Oh, dear, diannad. How much off is he? Maybe a buddy will see he is having trouble and will run next to him so he has a good guide on pace and speed. Prayers for Mercury heels on each shoe!

For sure, prayers already there :)

Got letters today and while I am thrilled to hear from my SR I am concerned. He is still having difficulty with the run and it is worrying him. I am afraid he will start doubting himself and get it in his head that he can't pass. Prayers please.

LOL, Lynn....maybe your SR has had a change of heart after 4 weeks with the RDCs. My son turned 24 at RTC. His recruiter told him that 1) RTC was not "fun" 2) the RDCs _would_ yell and not to take it personally and 3) the "tweenies" would drive him nuts. All true statements as it has turned out :D My SR described his RDCs in DIV 332 as this: "The Chief only yella when he is really mad that people are not listening. One of the petty officers is a harda$$, because he HAS TO BE and the other petty officer is a mix." The capitols are mine ;) My son understood the need to for the DIV to have at least one RDC as the ramrod. I suspect your SR will/has develop (ed) a lot of respect for the RDCs for his DIV, even if he does gripe about them too. Complaining, after all, is a "right" for anyone in the service!
In any case, at PIR we will see the newest proud members of the finest Navy in the world and THAT will be a wonderful and tear-filled sight. OH----this is 4-5 for DIV 331-332 so YEAH, the toughest week is ending :D Letters tomorrow???

Good Morning All !

Ahhh, but you WILL be thanking them, Lynn!  You will see that on PIR Day as your sailor goes through PIR...it is amazing!  They do a great job with the SRs....it all works for their good!  When those RDCs give the new sailors their Navy caps after BattleStations....there is a sense of pride that they have in each of those sailors...job well done.  So get ready to shake the hands of those wonderful RDCs working to mold your son into a great sailor!  :-)

And, yes, JLM.  The RDCs will be with the division.  There is limited time after PIR concludes to meet them (they will clear the hall after about 10 minutes), but they will be there.  Hope that you get a chance to!  You are right on in your description of the job they do with these sailors!  :-)

Thanking the RDC's, after how my son feels, I don't think I will be thanking them ;)
Comment by JLM-MN on August 13, 2013 at 9:56pm

After PIR do we have a chance to meet the RDCs?  I would really like to thank them for taking care of my SR for the time he was under their command.  They have such a huge responsibility and such incredible patience.  But I imagine away from the SRs they must be able to tell the greatest stories, right?  So anyway, do we have an opportunity to meet them?

Thank you, diannep!!
